We’ve seen a significant change in the lifestyle and trends of freshmen from the 1980s to the present. A woman who goes by @calikatcauseschaos on TikTok revealed that there was, however, one thing that hadn't changed: how teen girls had drool-worthy crushes just like we do today. Like us, they hesitated to reveal how they felt but made sure to note it down. The only difference was how they did so. The woman’s mom made it very evident who her crushes were in her 1982 yearbook, a video from February 1 revealed. Titling her crushes as “total fox,” with the doodles and notes, it was too adorable to ignore. When the daughter posted it online, the world connected, and the fine gentleman’s children responded.

The woman opened her mom’s old yearbook out of curiosity to see the pictures of the students from back then. As she flipped pages, she came across one fine gentleman, but what struck her was the note written next to an impulsively underlined name, Kevin O’Mara. The mom had described him as a “total babe fox” in her yearbook. As she turned the pages, she came across another “total fox,” Mike Raster. The latter was lucky to get a special “I love you” written next to his name. Soon, the daughter decided to share a plea online: “If you see this, please contact my mom, she’s single.” She went back and forth,  looking at the scribbles and doodles of the yearbook.

@calikatcauseschaos My mom wants to film a reponse video so badly! My grandpa (her father) passed away yesterday, so we’ve both been a bit distracted. Enjoy this that I was able to film in the meantime! #fypシ #fyp #1980s ♬ Hopelessly Devoted To You - From “Grease” - Olivia Newton-John

She didn’t think of how it would be received by the internet, but that’s when social media did what it does best — connecting and finding. The video reached the Rasters. Turns out Mike has six children, three of whom we know are his daughters because they all commented on the video. One of them clarified, “That’s my dad. He loves his dog and 6 children.” Another daughter, @annmarieeras, added a picture of her dad from her wedding day and said, “Mike Raster is my dad, I’m dying.” @catherineraster also shared a wedding picture and remarked, “Also, my dad, truly the best!”

@calikatcauseschaos Replying to @Jessibellarella from the woman herself. she sent me this while I was out tonight and called me three times asking I’d posted it yet! #fypシ #fyp #1982yearbook ♬ original sound - calikatcauseschaos

In an update, the woman did justice to the internet by sharing a glimpse of what the renowned mom looked like in her freshman and senior years. Needless to say, after that, they wanted to know what she thought of this unexpected reunion. In yet another clip, the mom mentioned that she was “too shy” to talk to the guys at the time and that they probably didn’t even know she existed. She went on to reveal that she was married to a man who held the same charming feature for 20 years before she became single. She thanked Raster’s family for being so lighthearted about the situation and making it a fun memory, and hoped they could trace O’Mara for the same reasons.

A study from Wiley revealed that college students have different phases by which they determine how romantic relationships will play out. Many noted that it starts with first being friends or acquaintances and then progresses with a little bit of flirting. Ultimately, the feelings of attraction are revealed and, if reciprocated, progress onto the next stage. At this stage, the duo will likely spend more time together, go out on dates, etc. As one participant noted, “Things get a bit more serious, you want to get a bit more romantic and go out on dates.” This moves to the next stage of being in a relationship. Here, the duo ideally get to know each other better, meet friends and families, and understand the long-term goals of their partner.

Ultimately, they reach stage 4, where they decide to either continue committing to their partner or leave. “You'll both think about your future together and if it means being in each other's [life] or not,” one participant explained. And then, there were also crushes, like this mom had, but they related to many. Her sweet appearance pushed many to remember how they personalized their own yearbooks with doodles and scribbles, highlighting rivalries and friends. @heysooze wrote, “It unlocks memories for me. I did the same thing. Class of ‘88.” @whichwaytothetikibar added, “My yearbooks look the same, and I’m married to one of the guys I marked ‘babe.’”
