Mom urges people to always discuss bill before group dinners after refusing to pay $150 for strangers

Going outside to eat with friends need not always be a fun experience. The biggest problem with this situation arises when the final bill is not split equally. A single mom on TikTok–who goes by @remiandryan–shared a video highlighting the importance of discussing the budget before going out to eat with friends. The video has gained nearly 2 million views and 83K likes on the platform. 

The woman shares how she knew about a guy who went to a birthday dinner without knowing anybody there. Everybody started ordering expensive stuff. He soon left for the bathroom and paid for what he ate. Upon returning, he discovered all his friends were arguing about the bill. He clarified that he had already paid for his food, which his friend later said was embarrassing and told him that he was being "rude" and unreasonable.

Something similar happened to her when she went out with a friend who worked as a model. She says, "She made a good amount of money. I didn't know anybody else who was invited, but she invited me to her birthday dinner." Since the woman was tight with her budget, she found coupons online that would help her pay for her own meals. It allowed her to have one basic dish without any drinks or dessert at this Brazillian steakhouse that they were going to.

The woman shares, "So I go, I have no money, I'm a single mom, I have no money. And I don't know why she thought I ever had money." She revealed that she was living in a really nice home because of her friend and that she could not afford it on her own. The woman decided to go to the model's birthday dinner and a few other people whom she did not know showed up. During this time, one of the people who came as a guest showed off that she had gotten plastic surgery because she was also a model.

All friends reached the restaurant and the woman shockingly discovered that many people were leaving the restaurant without paying. She says, "I assumed that they left money with her." They all continued to eat and have a good time. The woman did not order any drinks or desserts only so she could save money using the coupon. She ended up getting a very fatty piece of filet mignon that made her go to the bathroom to wash her mouth.

When she returned from the bathroom, she discovered that she had to pay for all the food and it came out to $150. She shared how the coupon could have covered her and the birthday girl's meal but how it was rendered useless because she had to pay for the people who left without leaving money with the birthday girl. The woman had to write a check to her friend because she did not even have $50 in her bank account at that time. Her friend also got really irritated with her.

She pointed out the problem, saying, "You did not clear this. We did not talk about this. I did not eat that food. Like why would you do this to me if you're supposed to be my friend?" Somehow, she had come out as the bad guy in the situation. She also shared how this was not the first time her friend had done this to her. She concluded by stating how people should never sit down to eat with a group without clarifying what the budget was going to be.
