We’ve all seen videos of kids crying when their parents drop them off at daycare. But after a few days of separation anxiety, many kids quickly forget their tears when they make a new friend. One 3-year-old, however, made a rather unusual friend at daycare—and her mom couldn’t resist sharing the hilarious story online. Forest Barnette, who goes by @foresthempen on X, revealed the identity of her daughter’s mysterious buddy, and the internet couldn’t stop laughing.

In her post, the mom mentioned that her 3-year-old was "the only girl at her small daycare." Ever since the little one started daycare, she had been going on and on about a new friend she made there. "I was thrilled when she started talking about her new friend Piper and how much they loved to play. Every day for months: Piper this, Piper that," the mom explained. So, just as any mom would do, Barnette too wanted to meet this famous Piper and tried to set up a playdate for the kids. "Finally I asked the daycare lady about maybe scheduling a playdate," the mom wrote. It was then she came to know that Piper was a cat! It was this furry friend her daughter had been talking about for months.

Barnette's post from this September went so viral with over 3.8 million views in just a week. The 3-year-old's choice of friend was too cute to handle for the internet. "Looks like your daughter's first BFF is a 'purrfect' choice! Just wait until Piper starts giving out homework," quipped @sggresearch. "That's hilarious! I can imagine your excitement and surprise when you found out Piper was a feline friend! It's adorable that your little one was so enamored with her whiskered companion," said @TheJonaidKhan. "Aw, that's so cute and funny! Kids have the most vivid imaginations, don't they? Piper the cat must be quite the popular playmate at daycare! Who needs human friends when you've got a cool cat friend like Piper?" chimed in @AltafKhanjhansi

A few others could relate to the toddler's one-of-a-kind friendship. "My kid just started school and I’m yet to figure out if her new friend is in another class or is imaginary," commented @tomkXY and Barnette found it "relatable." @cathedralroan shared a similar experience saying, "I did this as a kid too. I talked about my cousin Rocky so much that my teacher asked my mom about him and my mom sighed and said, 'That’s the dog.'"

Speaking of such hilarious twists, an Airbnb host's weird text message about an annoying "Kevin" ended up in a laugh riot. Palmer Ward (@decentbirthday) shared an amusing text exchange on X between an Airbnb host and a guest. "I apologize in advance, but Kevin may try to sleep with you. Just keep your door shut," the host said. Naturally, the guest was terrified seeing this message and expressed their shock. That's when the host clarified that Kevin was their dog! Pets with such human-sounding names can truly cause a lot of head-scratchings.
