Her raw emotions and her honesty regarding how she was feeling are something women online could resonate with.
People usually expect women to be happy and excited about their pregnancy. However, that is not the case every time or with every woman. Sometimes, women go through a range of emotions because of how unexpected the pregnancy is or whether they want another child. Michaela Teig Dunc–who goes by @michaelaaaat on TikTok–shared how she felt about her pregnancy without any filters. Her raw emotions and honesty regarding how she was feeling are something many women online could resonate with.
The video begins with Dunc opening the door of a public restroom holding a pregnancy test. She starts to cry and tells her best friend, "I don't know what to do. I didn't expect this at all." Her best friend comforts her as she says, "It will all be okay, eventually" and hugs her tightly. Dunc then says to her best friend that she knows it will be okay, but she does not feel that way. Next, she brings her sister inside a washroom to show the pregnancy test. The sister reacts, "I f**king knew what it was going to be." Though Dunch is seen laughing, she expresses to her sister: "I'm not excited. I'm freaked out. When I'm telling you it is a bigger accident, I'm not joking. I was bawling all day. This was not supposed to happen. This was not in my life plan."
After this, Dunc tells one of her friends, "I want to get your reaction to something." Then she says to her, "Guess who is also pregnant?" The friend is shocked and responds, "No way! Are you serious? Oh my God!" They both laugh. Dunc's friend asks, "Are you kidding?" And the mother-to-be replies, "I wish I was." Then she tells her other sister about the pregnancy, who excitedly tells Dunc that she knew this was going to happen. It ends with a family gathering where she announces that she is pregnant. The text overlay read, "My family at Harper's birthday party. Dad was stunned and so was grandma. I was too awkward to video much."
The video garnered nearly two million views on the platform. It is captioned, "It was the restroom for me." People in the comments could resonate with how Dunc reacted to her pregnancy. @earthrainbowmama commented, "Normalize the non-excitement of surprise pregnancies. I am in the same boat and would have the same reactions." @lauralou1610 wrote, "It's so refreshing to hear a woman say that finding out she's pregnant isn't an immediate joy. You will be fine."
@briannepate expressed, "'It will be ok eventually.' Ugh! How beautiful was that? Comforting you without downplaying your emotions. I love her!" @andreaconduracki said, "I'm just glad your friend was with you. Your first reaction was with someone who let you feel your feelings. Best friends are priceless." @momofabunchoftinyhumans added, "Literally me telling everyone after I found out about my third pregnancy and it was twins! They are very loved now."
