This mom-to-be had a nesting party instead of a baby shower and it was everything she needed before welcoming her baby.

A woman goes through a lot of things and emotions when she is pregnant. While the pampering and pregnancy glow are great, the postpartum emotions as well as work can be a lot sometimes. This is why, instead of a baby shower, mother-to-be Nia Lui (@nialui21) posted a video on TikTok doing something that actually helped her a lot. She did something called a nesting party.

Nia captioned the video, "Every pregnant mom needs a nesting party. If you’re pregnant and don’t want a baby shower, do this. If you have a pregnant friend, do this for them!" First things first, the word nesting refers to a nest being prepared for the upcoming animal babies. Birds often do this. A nesting party is basically when all of the friends of a pregnant woman come over to help her with all the things she needs to do before the baby arrives. In Nia's case, her friend Bri helped her plan it. She said, "My friend Bri organized it. I sent her a list of things that I wanted to get done before the baby came and she made little cards for each person to take on a section of the house."

She said in her video that while her friends did all the work around the house, she happily played the role of a supervisor of sorts. In the video, her friends can be seen cleaning windows and sofas, baby-proofing the house as well and arranging the nursery. After that, they briefly took a break. Nia said, "And then we took a dinner break, ate some soup, some sourdough bread, some treats and just chatted about this baby and how it's going to be."

By the end of the evening, the house looked great and Nia felt even better. Elaborating on this feeling, she said, "And then we got straight back to work and everything was so clean and organized. I feel so much more ready for this baby...I highly recommend in nesting party if you are getting ready for a baby." Her wonderful friends and family who made it to the party also got her a lot of frozen food. The collective intention was to ease the postpartum for Nia as much as they could.

The idea of a nesting party didn't please many mothers. For instance, @ihatepeas44 commented, "Nah my husband can clean the house and cook. Me and my girls will be eating fabulous food, drinking champagne and celebrating me." And that sounds like a wonderful plan too, if it works for you. Offering a creative suggestion, @sarahlynn904 joked, "Can I have a toddler nesting party? Because I’m not having any more babies but I need help cleaning up after my kids haha." Well, wouldn't that be a fun idea! All things said and done, having kids is a big responsibility and change, especially for a mother. Along with physical and psychological changes, there are so many lifestyle changes as well that need to be taken care of. A nesting party does sound like the best way to help a mother-to-be.
