Mom takes her dog and leaves her kids behind during a break-in, sparking debate

Having a burglar in your house can be quite a traumatic experience. A person might feel pretty confused because of how scared they are when someone breaks into their house. There's a likely possibility that a person might react differently than they would have under normal circumstances. A mom on TikTok had a really scary experience when two men broke into her house. But the woman, Leah Amberley who goes by @hauntedketchupy on TikTok came under fire when people noticed that she had run out of the house and taken her dog with her but left her kids behind.

After uploading the initial ring camera footage of the night of the break-in, the mom took to the platform to explain why she made that choice. In the ring camera footage, Amberley can be seen standing outside her house in a towel with her dog in her arms. The woman called her husband Jake and asked him to call the police. "Call the police, what happened?" the husband asked. The woman was shivering as she explained, "I was in the bath, I thought you were home. Someone broke through the back door and two guys walked in." The woman was hysterical as she added, "I begged them not to hurt the kids."

However, many people noticed that the woman's kids were not with her in the footage and wondered why did she not have the kids with her. In an update, Amberley pointed out that she never knew she would get death threats for sharing something so traumatic. She shared a screenshot of one of the messages that said, "Your kids could have died because of you." The woman had replied, "If someone threatened to shoot you would you lead them right to them? Risk them getting shot? My moves were smart and quick, I saved them." She added, "I can deal with a lot of heat, a lot of hate but one thing I won't stand for is being called a bad mom." Amberley expressed, "I was fully prepared to die for my kids when I ran downstairs, trying to get them help."

"Would you have been that brave or would you have done what they told you to do? Let's think about that for a moment," the mom asked. She gave more details about the break in, in yet another video. "After I heard the men run downstairs I checked on my boys. They were both sound asleep and I Iocked their door from the inside and closed them." The family lived in a pretty small house and all the houses in the neighborhood were so close that they were almost touching. She went to her neighbor's house for help and then went inside her house to find that everything was clear and checked on her children again and they were safe.

Everything happens so fast. I can't imagine her fear!" @jennaschutte37 commented, "Honestly though as a momma...I can't fathom leaving my children in danger. Doors can be kicked in." @mommyrealest remarked, "I’m glad it worked out and you/ the kids were okay. I cannot imagine leaving my children defenseless while there are men with guns in my house."
