A mother and child share a deep connection, and sometimes, that bond finds its most beautiful expression through music. That was the case when Los Angeles-based artist Avie Sheck invited his mother to join him in a heartfelt cover of Radiohead’s iconic track Creep. The result? A soul-stirring performance that has captivated social media. The widely shared video showcases the duo’s musical chemistry, with many viewers saying the rendition has been a source of healing for them.

This unique take on Creep blends the raw emotion of the original rock song with the intricate beauty of Hindustani classical music, a revered tradition in Indian music. Recorded in a simple, makeshift studio inside Sheck’s apartment, the low-key production only added to its authenticity, creating an intimate and deeply moving atmosphere.

Music enthusiasts likely would not have imagined the iconic song from 1992 mixed with "Raag Bilawal," a traditional melodic pattern in Hindustani classical music intended to evoke deep devotion. The unusual music video began with Sheck’s blissful guitar play, immediately providing listeners with a soothing experience.

Sheck's performance brought together two distinct musical worlds. Following the heartwarming musical intro, his focus shifted to soft, whispery vocals, evoking deep emotions. "When you were here before, couldn't look you in the eye; you're just like an angel, your skin makes me cry," sang the LA artist, who has Indian roots. The footage humorously featured his dog, seemingly unfazed by the performance. “You float like a feather in a beautiful world. I wish I was special; you're so f****** special,” are lines humorously dedicated to his sleepy furry friend. But as the song progressed, you could hear Sheck's mother, a classical Hindustani music vocalist, indulging in some calm and soulful vocal improvisations before entering the chorus with her powerful voice.

Trained in classical music, she hit some impressive high notes without losing rhythm or melody. The duo complemented each other's musical talents beautifully, creating a refreshing duet that offers unique entertainment. Reflecting on how well "Raag Bilawal" resonates with the song, Sheck wrote in the video description, “My mom was visiting me last week, and we decided to jam a little bit. Here’s what turned out!” He promised listeners that he would soon release a series of new originals co-produced with his mother.

Meanwhile, the cover of Radiohead’s "Creep" resonated with many on social media, amassing 1,576,902 views since it premiered on November 22, 2024. Among the countless reactions, @TheIHackzor remarked, "Bro just broke through all language barriers and solved world peace." @jenniferfrazier922 added, "This has got to be the most beautiful version I’ve ever heard." @Theresapee remarked: "A mother comforting her son, reassuring him that he’s loved, that he belongs."

Furthermore, @LuciaBeans said of the performance: "I'm almost 51. I bought the original Radiohead cassette when it came out. Wow! Your version is so beautiful. Your mother's singing literally made me burst into tears. I was so touched by her voice, even though I didn't understand the language. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts!"
