Mom shares unspoken rule about parking next to grocery cart drop, sparking mixed reactions

Many people on the internet had mixed feelings about the 'unspoken rule' and said they had never heard of it before.

Shopping with kids might be harder than a usual shopping trip. Parents not only have to take care of all the bags but they also have to deal with a child's demands properly. However, many people might wonder if people with kids should be entitled to special privileges. A mom, Stefany–who goes by @unsolicitedsarcasm on TikTok–thinks that a parking spot right next to where stores keep the carts should be kept open for moms who have come shopping with their kids.

"We all have this same unspoken rule, right," the mom began. "If you are shopping and this spot is open," the mom pointed out at the right side beside the space to put shopping carts, "It's not for you. It is for moms with their kids who need to come and unload right next to the cart drop, right." She specified that any person without kids should leave that spot open. The caption of the video read, "It's a safety thing. Please leave that spot open for moms shopping solo with their kiddos." The video has garnered nearly 800k views and over 18.6k likes with thousands of comments.

People expressed their thoughts on the unspoken rule and shared their experiences. @michellevasilj wrote, "Never heard of this. I managed to raise three kids without expecting the world to revolve around me. Kids are grown now. I'll park there if I want." @susantstinebiser commented, "As a senior, I choose that spot. Grab a cart for balance and can return it when I am done." @my_second_half remarked, "Sorry, but with 50 spots in front of stores designated for 'pick up' orders that are never even 10% occupied, I'm parking in any other spot I want." @conejogringo2 shared, "I always think yeah! At least one side of my car is protected from those kids that love to fling their door open."

@claire.voyente expressed, "It's also for people like me who have severe back issues, can barely make it out of the store and certainly can't make it back to drop the cart off, so it's conveniently right there." @multifaceted.mackenzie11 disclosed, "Yess! Building on this. If you notice a parent who's loading their kiddos in the car and they aren't parked by the cart drop. Offer to take their cart for them if you are able!" @queenbeegigi_1 said, "Sorry, but it's not! I will always look for that parking spot because I'm usually by myself and I just feel safer not walking all the way across the parking lot to put my buggy away."

Stefany made another video to respond to people who wrote that they had not heard of such a thing and would continue to park where they liked. "That's okay. I didn't tell you where you should park or ask you to change your behavior in any way and I am not going to change my behavior in any way." She added, "When I am in a parking lot where I feel safe and comfortable with my surroundings, I will continue to leave that spot open for anyone, with or without kids, who needs a little extra security." "You can continue to park where you want to park. I will continue to park where I want to park," she concluded her video.
