The mom who was shamed for breastfeeding in public defended her side of the story in the best way possible.
It is 2023 and people are still shaming moms for breastfeeding in public. Sometimes, they even go to the extent of passive-aggressively taking photographs or videos without consent and posting them on their social media, telling the mom to "cover up." Izabele Lomax was shocked to see a video of her at the beach, topless, breastfeeding her child when she opened Facebook.
The caption of the post read, "I'm not shaming women who breastfeed their babies. I'm shaming the woman who breastfeeds in public with no respect to cover themselves up and just let their b**bs hang out (nipple included) for everyone to see! COVER TF UP!!! I shouldn't have to cover my son's eyes and explain why your b**bs are out, and quite frankly, I don't want to see it either. Have some respect!"
Addressing the issue on TikTok, the mom @izlomax responded in the best way, while continuing to be topless as she was breastfeeding her baby. "Imagine waking up, getting on Facebook, and seeing this video of yourself yesterday at the beach," she says in the clip. "Not only did this woman walk past me multiple times with her son, you had every opportunity in the world to say something to me. Not that I would have cared or stopped what I was doing, but you instead choose to post a video of me and my child on Facebook, publicly for the world to see."
The mom also defended her baby's right to be fed anywhere just like anyone else. "What if you were told that the only way that you could eat at the beach is if you were covered up by a towel?" she pointed out, noting that no one has taken photos of her feeding her baby in restaurants or on the street. "Next time you see a mom breastfeeding her child in public, covered up or not, tell her how good of a job she's doing," Lomax advised.
She added one more zinger before concluding, "Also, let it be known that her son is literally 4 years old. If you are sexualizing a breast to a 4-year-old, you've got your own set of issues," she said of the hater. She also was grateful for the positive responses in the comments saying, "Thank you to the people who come to my defense."
Lomax's video has garnered over 529k views and 43k likes on TikTok, with other moms in the comments also cheering her on. @emmaclarkphotography wrote, "YES GIRL! Feed your baby any way you choose. You are doing AMAZING." @prone_2_wand3r added, "With these record heat spikes too. Covering up would be torture to me and my little one." @ccarpenito said, "Beautiful! I teach my boys it's amazing that Moms can do this and they can see it but don't stare because it's impolite."
