Mom of 4 shares the perfect parenting hack to keep kids from quarrelling with each other

An increased number of children inevitably results in heightened responsibilities. Kellie Henry—who goes by @oh.henrys on TikTok—has four kids, which means things can get a little tense in the household at times. Henry runs her joint TikTok page with her husband Dan and they usually post parenting, family and marriage-related videos for entertainment. In 2022, she shared the video of a parenting hack that went viral with over 1.9 million views.

Henry swears by this hack when she has to keep her four kids and check to prevent them from bickering pointlessly with one another. Quarreling over wanting to sit in the front seat of a car or watching their favorite show on TV is normal in every household with multiple kids and her family is no different. However, she has her way to deal with her kids with a clever hack, and it is all about keeping her kids busy by having them help their mother around the household.

The mom narrates how she assigns each child a day of the week when they have to help their mom and take up some household responsibilities. "We go youngest to oldest. Monday through Thursday, on their day, they have extra responsibilities, but they also get special treatment," she explained. "So on their day, they know they have to empty the dishwasher, take out the rubbish, they have to feed the dog. Anything around the house, if I might need extra help that day, they have to help me."

The special treatment they get for helping their mom is little rewards like getting to choose their seat in the car for the day, getting to say the family prayers and even helping her to choose what they will be having for dinner that night. "It’s been working for our family so well for over a year now," she revealed in the viral TikTok. In this way, the kids feel like their chores are not punishments but rewards as they get special treatment upon completing their tasks and they hardly have any time to bicker with one another over petty matters.

"They are the king and queen of the day. Like if there is one cookie left, whose day is it? You get the cookie! It's like keeping so much stress out of my brain that my kids don't battle over it," She concluded. Fellow parents on TikTok were impressed with how easily this mom keeps her kids from creating a ruckus and bickering with one another. However, some curious parents had a bunch of questions for Henry as well.
