A mom shared a video about what her son told her on his first day of school and it was quite heartbreaking.
The first day of school is quite emotional for both parents and children. It happens because, before that day, the child had spent his entire day running around his parents and having quality time with them. So, imagine how difficult it would be for them to accept that they won't be seeing each other for half the day. Valerie, a mom–who goes by @valedelcid on TikTok–shared a video about what her son told her on the first day of school.
In the video, she is seen doing her son's hair. The text overlay reads, "This moment made me sad." The child tells Valerie, "Mom, but I really want to stay at home." She immediately asks him if he does not want to go to school anymore. He replies, "I do... but I'll miss you," almost in tears. The mom also looks like she is on the verge of tears after listening to what her son shares. She tells him, "I'll miss you too, baba. I'm gonna miss you a lot!" However, she also makes sure that he looks forward to his school day rather than disliking the experience. Valerie says, "It's going to be an exciting adventure for you. Right?" The text overlay reads, "Looking back, I should've stopped to hug him. I think we were both trying to be strong."
After this, she wipes her tears and continues combing his hair. She also tells him that she is excited for him and that he will learn some stuff in school. "Then you are going to come back and tell me all about your day and I'll say, 'Sounds like you had a great day,'" she explains to him. The text overlay reads, "I didn't want him to feed off my tears and not want to go to class. I tried to hype up school." The video was captioned, "This was so hard to navigate because I really just wanted to cry." The video garnered 24.7 million views on the platform. People in the comments could resonate with how the kid and the mom were feeling. @lailaracheltaylor commented, "My mom used to draw smiley faces on my fingertips and when they started to smudge off at the end of the day, that meant it was almost time to see her again."
@karlita42288 wrote, "My son told me, 'You didn't teach me how not to miss you'...ugh…. Now he's a 4th grader." @hsimmons.28 shared, "As a teacher, read the kissing handbook to him and put hearts on both of your hands and tell him when he misses you to look at his heart on his hand." @heyxles expressed, "You acknowledging his emotions and still giving him love and listening to him is already giving him more than he needs. You are doing great, mama! Your bond is so cute to see." @thisgirlmarisa said, "Moms do not get enough credit for how strong they have to be. This is a perfect example." @vegasfoodie_vic added, "I'm a single mom. My son is now 25, but the first day of school I will never forget! Be strong mama and enjoy these memories."
