Several people are body-conscious and forget that beauty lies within. In today’s world, many overlook factors like genes, health issues and so on and focus on their body’s imperfections. While it seems like a trend among teens and youth, it's saddening to know that even little children have this frame of mind. However, Kenzie—who goes by @missmommymack on TikTok—shared her moving experience of how her daughter felt conscious of her body and how she, as a mom, dealt with it. She shared a video saying, “My 9-year-old’s saying she’s fat.” Kenzie then explained that her daughter had to wear adult sizes as she was tall.

“Last night, we ran to a Target dressing room and my daughter kept getting upset as she was trying on clothes and couldn’t wear the kid’s clothes,” the mom shared. She then mentioned how her daughter expressed that other kids didn’t have to wear adult clothes. To this, the mom replied that she too wore adult clothes at her age given her height. Her daughter, still uneasy about the situation, asked her mum if she would “look like her” when she grew up. “Do you mean fat?” her mum asked. She said yes, “I’m not trying to be mean Mom but I want to look like Aunt Sarah, not you.”

The 9-year-old’s mom was devastated at that point but kept on a brave face and shared a very important message with her. She said, “As long as you’re happy, healthy and love yourself, that’s all that matters. No matter what size you are.” Kenzie then shared that she was hurt but understood that her daughter didn’t intend to hurt her. The video went viral and several fellow mothers pitched in. @natsbooknook97 said, “This is heartbreaking.” @fifallon88 said, “That’s so hard. Sounds like you handled it well.”

With thousands of viewers and several commenters misunderstanding and mentioning that her daughter can try alternatives to lose weight, Kenzie shared a follow-up video expressing that the weight was not the problem, the mindset was. “A lot of people like to assume that plus-sized people aren’t healthy,” the mum spoke out. She then shared that her 9-year-old too was healthy with walks, swimming and several activities. “She’s just extremely tall just like her mom, imagine that,” Kenzie said sarcastically.

She further shared that she does not let anyone talk about weight in front of her daughter. “If she wants a candy bar, she’s gonna get a candy bar. I’m never going to tell her, her weight is the problem. Because that’s what traumatized me,” the mom concluded. Receiving mixed opinions on the matter, the mum shared another follow-up video. She gave a recap of the situation and said, “Just to clarify, Paige is only 9 years old.”

She then politely called out the lashes on her daughter about her statement and said, “Just because I don’t say anything about my daughter doesn’t mean others don’t.” She then explained to her viewers that even though she was hurt, she was glad her daughter could open up to her. “She’s the most empathetic kid I know but she’s allowed to have her opinions.” @kenna.ann commented saying, “Yes! Exactly this. She felt safe to tell you her truth.”
