'And because my taxes actually go towards helping other families...' she said.
Aly (@usa.mom.in.germany), an American mom living abroad, is living her best life in Germany, and she wouldn't trade it for moving back to the USA. In a TikTok video posted on December 15, 2021, Aly talked about all the reasons she prefers living in Germany and wouldn't want to move back to America.

"Because I don't have to worry about affording my health insurance," she began, highlighting USA's insanely expensive healthcare policies. As a mother, Aly obviously wants her kids to enjoy a safe and healthy childhood, which she said is achievable in Germany and not in the USA. She said, "Because my kids can go outside and play without me having to worry because crime rates are so much lower." Apart from security, the American mom said public transportation is another reason why she prefers living in Germany. To add to the list, Aly mentioned job benefits that the country offers, including more than 30 annual leaves and longer paternal leaves. Germany is also ahead of the USA in terms of education expenses. The mom said she wouldn't move back to America because she would easily save $100,000 in her son's paid university fees. "Because my son is now bilingual and working on becoming trilingual," she added.
Moving on, Aly mentioned a few more brownie points about Germany. She said, "Because I no longer have to worry about my own student loans. Because even though I live in the most religious state, I'm not shamed for being an atheist." Raising kids comes with responsibilities, and it becomes 3x more difficult if you're a working parent. Aly, who understands this, also knows the importance of being able to afford daycare, and Germany gives her that liberty. "Because I can actually afford daycare. Because my kids don't have to worry about being unalived at school. And because my taxes actually go towards helping other families," she added. Many Americans have been seriously considering leaving their country over the past couple of years. Among all reasons, the increasing cost of living is something that is getting out of control. In fact, the Harris Poll found that although 70% Americans believe the U.S. is the most lucrative country for work, 68% feel that they are surviving more than thriving. Now, 49% of people who have considered moving abroad cite lower costs as the primary reason for that decision.
Meanwhile, reacting to Aly's video, @positive_moodz commented, "From what I see, the USA is built on the premise of competition, so if you're good, you'll earn better than anywhere else; otherwise, it can get pretty tiring." @merchants_probably wrote, "We need solutions that we can implement back here at home. We can't all just leave. (I'm actually dying to live abroad for some years.) But for now, I'm here, and citizens here still need to find out how they can participate in a better system of governance, whether I'm here or not."
Similarly, @thewistfulwordwitch said, "YES! I'm a USian mama living in Belgium, and we get all of this too! A significantly better quality of life here, and not nearly as scary or polarized." @everything_gealove confessed, "Ok, my love, you told my life. Literally, I am going to try and move to Germany. I am pregnant and have been in a dark place mentally." @jillhannahboll commented, "I lived in Germany for 14 years and two other continents as well. I would have never moved back if I didn’t have to, for all the reasons you’ve just stated."
