A little girl sits down with her mom to watch the Disney classic for the first time, but her reaction to the film is not what anyone expected.
An entire generation of millennials have grown up watching Disney's "Lilo & Stitch." The heartwarming 2002 science fiction animated film is still loved by youngsters and adults alike. So when a mom of two, Evette Ford–who goes by @evetteracaza on Instagram–decided to show the film to her 3-year-old daughter, Finley, she did not see what was coming next. Ford shared a video capturing a sweet moment with Finley when the mom and daughter duo started watching "Lilo & Stitch" together.
Ford mentioned that she was really excited to show Finley one of her favorite films. However, Finley's reaction to the film was equally hilarious and unexpected. "I thought I was giving her a great core memory, but did I just traumatize her?" the mom joked in the caption of her Instagram video. At first, it seems the young girl is enjoying the film when the opening soundtrack starts playing. Finley even holds up a toy in front of the camera to show her mom a picture of the titular characters "Lilo and Stitch" on it. But little did Ford expect Finley to start shedding tears during an emotional moment in the film.
A scene starts playing where Stitch, the blue alien creature in the film, reminds a character called Nani how he remembered the word "ohana," which means "family," Finley is visibly crying. The scene that takes place towards the end of the film is heartbreaking enough to draw tears from adults too. Ford asks her daughter if she liked the movie. Finley simply looks at her mom with sad eyes and shakes her head from side to side. The second time Ford asks Finley about the film, the little girl looks a tad bit happier eating a meal. However, her review of the film remains unchanged. Unlike Ford, Finley did not enjoy the film at all. The comment section was amused at that reaction and some folks mentioned how she will appreciate the film a bit more when she is older.
@yo_dallama shared, "My kid started acting like a brat and a lunatic after watching this movie. I realized it was because she's only 2, and doesn't understand the bigger picture of 'Lilo and Stitch's' behavior. It also took me a minute to realize where the behavior came from. Once I realized, it was like a lightbulb. She was doing the reenactments of scenes." @jdawwggg mentioned, "This is so cute. I wonder if her mind will change when she watches it again when she is a little older."
@samanthapearce3 recalled, "My mom took my cousin and me to see this when it came out at the drive-in theaters, and I sobbed uncontrollably. I was 7." @princesssnakiaa added, "I have now done this to both my children with different movies. We have such nostalgia, but then they are just not exactly how we remember. It's okay, Mom. She will love it in a couple of years tops!" Disney Movies' official website announced that a live-action "Lilo & Stitch" film starring Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai and Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch will be released in 2025.
