A school picture day can be both exciting and overwhelming for a child and their parents. While most of them try to perfect their outfit and poses, the end result is perhaps unpredictable until the photos are received. This is especially the case for little kids whose pictures depend on their many moods. A mom decided to practice picture day smiles with her son to ensure that things would go smoothly, but she never thought the results would be how they turned out. The woman, Vially Dorestant, who goes by @thedorestantfamily on Instagram, shared the result in a video.

"POV: These kids can't be trusted," the text overlay read. "Hi, next week is picture day," the mom informed the boy as he stood in front of the camera. "How are you going to smile?" she asked. The boy gave a big smile, showing all of his teeth in a way that seemed to reassure his mom. "That's how you are going to smile?" she checked with him again. The child replied in the affirmative. "Fine, then say cheese. How are you going to do it?" The child said cheese, keeping his big smile. "That's how you are going to smile?" the woman asked once again and the child simply said, "Yeah." However, in the picture from school, the child sported a smug impression, making the smile gesture with his fingers, looking totally different from the pose he had shown and promised to his mom.

The caption of the video read, "LESSON: Them kids gonna do what they want to do." Dorestant told TODAY.com, "He's very shy and it was his first picture day, so I was prepping him." The mom was sure that her 4-year-old son Corey would surely go with the pose they had prepped, so she was quite surprised when the actual results came in. "I couldn’t stop laughing. I was like, 'Who is this child?'" The mom shared, "I asked him, 'What is this?' And he goes, 'I’m cool!'" Although the hilarious photograph might have just come out based on Corey's mood at the time, there was another person who played a role in this story.

"Nate does drop-off and in the car, he was reminding Corey how to smile during pictures and not be nervous. Meanwhile, my son gave him a pep talk before," the mom revealed, explaining that it was her 8-year-old son who told his younger brother to pose like that while her husband was dropping them off at school. "He gave me a gift. That picture will be coming out at his wedding!" the mom expressed, disclosing how memorable the photo is for her. People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the story.

@jessicaholmes62501 commented, "But seriously, I feel like his dad or some man was like, 'How did she tell you to pose? Nah, son, you gotta hit ‘em with the swag. Lemme show you." @thekwendyhome wrote, "I was gonna say what a cutie but I don’t think that was what he was going for." @smileyjrock shared, "I remember taking a school picture at nine and I had two pigtails with ribbons. One of the pigtails unraveled and they took the picture just like that. Terrible memory, why did my teacher not fix my hair?" @noahboujida expressed, "'Just as I practiced... Just say cheese, oh shoot, is that Rebecca from Ms. Roger's class.' And that’s, ladies and gentlemen, how we got this beautiful picture."
