Kids tend to do the right thing when someone explains it to them in their language and this is exactly what this mom did. Haylee Graves—who goes by @hayleeand.herdogs on TikTok—shared a wholesome video in which a mother was explaining to her daughter why she should not touch Grave's service dog. And when explained rightly, the child obeyed rather more enthusiastically. People on the social media platform loved the way the mom handled the situation.

The video begins with the dog and his pet parent walking through a corridor and a child is heard asking twice, "What is his name?" and Graves sweetly responds, "This is Jake." The girl comes running over to the dog to touch him. Her mom explains to her, "On his back, it says, 'Do not pet me, I'm working.'" She goes on to tell the child that he is a medical assistant dog, so "just like daddy had a work dog, he is a working dog." The mom sternly tells the daughter that this is why she can not touch him. The child followed what her mother said and just stood there.

The woman then explains to Graves why she took her husband's example. She tells her, "My husband is a K-9 officer, so I'm trying to explain to her. He's a working dog!" Graves exclaims, "Awww! That's awesome. Thank you!" Meanwhile, the mother reiterates to her child, "So just like our K9 is a working dog, he's a working dog, okay?" Hearing that, the pet parent again thanks her for making her child understand the situation so beautifully.

The mother also shares with Graves that her daughter saw Jake from the other aisle and immediately wanted to pet him and she already told him that he is a working dog. The conversation ends with Graves starting to walk away and the woman tells the dog, "Goodbye, Jake! Have a wonderful day!" and the child also says, "Goodbye, Jake!" The video garnered over 13 million views on the platform and is captioned, "When I tell you, my whole heart melted. This mother deserves the top #1 award. What an amazing moment!"

People in the comments loved how the mom explained about the service dog to her child. @noxboxandsocks shared that more parents should do this. "We need way more parents who teach their kids about service dogs!" he wrote. @haydenskiez commented, "I like the way she referred the relationship with her dad's dog to make it easier for her to understand."

@gus_n_gretchen expressed, "I teach this to my kids too. So important. Also, told her about a 'service dog' that wasn't really a working dog and explained the difference." @cat_dog_oc_maker said, "Good to see parents teaching their children! Can tell the parenting is good! @danimurphy27 stated, "Parents correcting and explaining this to their children always makes my eyes tear up with happiness." Moms like her definitely deserve all the praise and appreciation because of how well she is raising her child.
