At some point, we might have seen the gender reveal videos, where people lose it after seeing a pink cake or confetti. We might have seen people who do not want to parent "girl kids" due to the responsibility that comes with them. Such behavior from people made us wonder why they view girls in such a bad light. However, one mother wishes to clear up these negative myths. In a heartwarming video, Dr. Meghan Elizabeth Beach Martin—who goes by @beachgem10 on TikTok—shares her positive experience of raising a teenage daughter. She begins by acknowledging that while her message is especially for moms of young girls or even dads, everyone can find value in her story.

"I happen to be the mom of a teenage girl and let me tell you, it's pretty great. She's like a really interesting and rational human who is functional and does things and we have these really cool conversations. No more like unhinged toddler conversations," Martin said while sharing the many wonderful aspects of her teenage daughter. As the mom of a teenage girl, she finds this phase of parenting to be surprisingly extraordinary. She added, "She's fully sleep trained. There are no more diapers. There are other expenses certainly, but she actually has a job and helps contribute to those expenses."

Her daughter is now a rational and functional person who engages in meaningful conversations. Martin said, "She asks really good questions, like, Where are the pockets? Why is that so expensive? Why don't law enforcement and paramedics get paid more?" Not only that but also the mother finds great satisfaction in her daughter's capacity to take on major duties. "She helps around the house with dishes and laundry. Sometimes, you have to ask a couple of times, but it still gets done and it gets done pretty well. She made dinner on her own," Martin shared. Her daughter recently prepared sushi bowls, taking care of everything from the final cleanup to the shopping list. It was so much better than anything she could have prepared herself.

Martin further added, "All of these phases of childhood that we are parenting through have their challenges and benefits and definitely a trade-off." Although the mother acknowledges that her daughter occasionally makes eye rolls and acts rudely, she is thrilled to watch her take the lead. "I'm so excited to see what she does when she grows up and I'm so proud of her every single day. I'm definitely holding on for dear life to these last couple of years. All the terrible things they say about raising teenage girls and how terrible it is, I want you to know that it can be really great. They're still your kids, and they're still amazing," she concluded.

Martin's video has garnered over 500K views. She captioned her video, "I can't recall anyone telling me anything positive about parenting a teenage girl. There are challenges, of course, but I'm enjoying this phase." People in the comments complimented the mother for her open and constructive viewpoint on teenage girls. "I love that so many moms are starting to appreciate their teen girls. They do NOT have to have contentious relationships with their moms. Thank you for this!!" said @mwmom77. "Thank you! I have a very opinionated 3-year-old!!! It's nice to know that it's not a foregone conclusion that teenage girls are awful!!" commented @popsicle.25.
