The internet often speaks about how meticulous dealing with a mischievous toddler is, but parenting a teen is not a cakewalk. One common issue that many parents of teenagers face is keeping up with their trends and slang phrases. The Gen Z and Gen Alpha teens today have invented their own vocabulary based on social media trends and it's all Greek and Latin to the parents. But one Canadian mom-influencer, Linda Yu Qian—who goes by @linda.yuqian on Instagram—cracked the code on how to use Gen Z slang and slayed it while complimenting her daughter. Her video from June went viral with over 11 million views and people are amused.

As the video begins, we can find the mom entering her daughter's room. "Complimenting my teen in Gen Z language," the text overlay read. As the teen was combing her hair, the mom asked, "Bro, are you ready?" The teen was caught off-guard by her mom calling her "Bro." She replied, "Yeah, why do you call me bro?" But her mom went on with more Gen Z compliments. "Oooh! Such a sigma!" The embarrassed teen wanted her mom to stop, but her mom was having fun out of it. "I seriously think it's very, it's giving me very skibidi toilet rizz," Yu Qian added.

Throwing her bag away, the teen, flustered by her mom's use of "skibidi toilet," smiled and shut the door. Later, the teen and her sibling approached their mom to ask for food money. "Again? You have your own money, bro," Yu Qian replied. When the daughter requested again, the mom said, "Fanum tax, man. All the time, bro. What?" While the younger sibling seemed totally perplexed about her mom's weird language, the teen simply couldn't stand the Gen Z compliments anymore. She and her sibling left the room and went on to ask their dad instead for food money. The mom giggles and the text overlay reads, "Cringey!" Yu Qian wrote in the caption, "The look she gave me. Didn't even want food money! Did I miss any Gen Z words?"

The viral video left many parents in stitches. "Parents used to hate how their children talk and criticized them for it. But Millennial parents," said @saoudi.ahmed, while implying how Millennial parents go along with their kids' trends. "Bro! That was lit. Sheesh. Where did you learn all these? Hats off to momma," lauded @28gigs. "Great job mom. I didn't understand 80% of what you said and I'm a millennial," chimed in @_mishadimples. "I love doing this to my 13-year-old just so she rolls her eyes and shuffles off saying, 'Oh my Gawd,'" added @lazyhaze08.

Speaking of moms learning the Gen Z/ Gen Alpha slang words, a girl testing her mother's knowledge of Gen Z slang went viral. TikTok influencer Just Jalyn (@jalyn.ruszin) shared a rib-tickling video of her mother guessing the meaning of various Gen-Z slang terms. The mom thought "rizz" meant some WWE character and "ong" was a typo of "OMG." She couldn't figure out the meaning of several slang phrases and was totally bewildered by the quirky words that her daughter's generation used.
