The mom decided to teach her daughter what a 'real dad' looks like when she was disrespectful to the one who raised her.

Being a mom often involves the challenging tasks of nurturing and sometimes correcting their children. A mother shared her dilemma with her daughter in a now-deleted Reddit post. She asked if she was wrong in canceling her daughter's wedding vendors after her daughter informed her that her biological dad would walk her down the aisle. The woman started her post by recounting her history with her former husband. The mom said that she became pregnant with her daughter Mia when she was 20 years old and that's when this man left her and even refused to pay the child support.

"At that time I was lucky that my friend, now husband, helped me," the woman wrote. She then fell in love with him and got married shortly. The person went on to share that they have three children together but her current husband always made sure to treat her daughter as his own. "He never discriminated against any of our kids," the mom mentioned. However, when her daughter turned 18 she told her mother and stepdad that she wanted to find her biological dad. Though it was hurtful for her stepdad, he still told his wife that they should allow her to do that.

Soon, she found her dad and they began to bond well. "She would spend less time with us and more time with her dad," the mom shared. The issue arose when her daughter expressed a desire to have her biological father walk her down the aisle. The mom emphasized that he was not the one paying for the wedding, it was her stepdad. "My husband was heartbroken when he learned that. I also had a huge fight with Mia," the woman wrote. "She said that it's her wedding so she gets to decide. And we should stop being entitled." The mom added that the soon-to-be bride thinks it is best her biological dad walks her down the aisle. "Yeah the man who didn't even want to be in her life," the mother expressed.

The woman went ahead and took a drastic step to teach her daughter a lesson: she canceled all the wedding vendors. "The flowers, the food, the venue. Yeah, it did cost us money," she wrote. "But I refuse to pay for her wedding where she openly disrespects her dad who stepped in." The mother told her daughter to ask her real dad to pay for her wedding and she said that he didn't have the money to do so. "She has been telling people that we are abusive parents. That we never loved her and that's why we canceled the wedding," the woman shared. As a result, the woman had to explain to the relatives why she did what she did.

Many supported the mother's decision in this difficult situation. u/The_Bad_Agent commented, "She can choose whomever she wants. But she shouldn't expect your husband to fund a wedding that her bio dad should pay for." u/Sfgiants420 wrote, "The man who had supported her all her life is her real dad. If she does not feel that way, then fake dad doesn't have to support her anymore and real/bio dad can step up." u/GoodKarmaDarling said, "NTA—Mia sounds like the entitled one here. 'Oh well he can still pay for the wedding, I just want this other dude to walk down the aisle though.'" u/ok-reply9552 expressed, "Nta. It’s your money so it’s your choice. She loves her bio dad(not her real dad) more than her actual dad and more than you either given how she’s acting. She only has one parent now and she can be happy with that."
