Nawat Itsaragrisil was addressing the Miss Universe contenders when he chose to humiliate Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch.

Pageants are usually full of glitz and glamor, but the Miss Universe 2025 pre-pageant was anything but. When one of the executives called a contender "dummy" and ordered her removed during a heated exchange, the other contenders made sure he regretted it, reported The New York Post on November 4.

Nawat Itsaragrisil, an executive director of the Miss Universe Organization, was addressing the Miss Universe contenders when he chose to humiliate Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, in front of her fellow beauty queens after she didn't participate in a social media shoot, claiming she had "no respect." The director wished she had shared media coverage of the event, but the way he put it forward was incredibly condescending and rude.
Itsaragrisil, who was in charge of organizing the pageant in his home country, confronted the Mexican beauty queen and accused Bosch of not following the rules. "Mexico, where are you?" he asked, as Bosch found herself standing up when Itsaragrisil called Bosch a "dummy," which sparked an uproar. When Bosch retaliated by questioning his choice of words, he further argued, asking her why she was talking when he had not granted her the "opportunity" to speak.

Bosch did not hold back and snapped, "Because I have a voice and you are not respecting me as a woman." Itsaragrisil, who was unable to pacify the situation, called for security to take Miss Mexico out of the room, but that's when the other contenders rose to react. As Bosch walked out of the room, she was supported by dozens of other contenders who walked out along with her. "As women, you need to show respect for us. I'm here representing a country, and it's not my fault that you have problems with my organization," Bosch said while addressing the media outside. Current Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who was also present in the room, walked out to show solidarity with Bosch.
"This is about women's rights," she told the reporters. "I'm so sorry, we need to do something bigger. We have respect for everyone, but this is not how things can be handled."
Every year, the current Miss Universe hands down her sash and crown, but Theilvig vowed not to return to the ceremony after the incident, leaving them without the Queen. "To trash another girl, it's beyond disrespectful and it's nothing I've ever done. That's why I'm taking my coat and I'm going," she said. Nevertheless, the event backfired on Itsaragrisil, with Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha Cantú forced to send the newly elected CEO Mario Búcaro to Thailand to oversee the remainder of the pageant events.
In the 2021 study, researchers Juan Bossio and Illari Diez analyzed how a feminist Facebook group in Peru communicated. Their findings clustered most of the interactions within concepts of sororidad (sisterhood) and found that it was central to women's coping mechanism, collective voice, and empowerment. In fact, the study went on to establish sisterhood as the "internal repertoire" of the Feminist movement.
