With the holidays coming closer, families might want to see each other and spend time together. However, traveling to a person's place might not always be convenient or end well for people. Especially if the person coming over has little kids. A millennial dad shared a similar concern with his boomer father when he refused to come down to his place for the holidays. The man had three little kids, the parents lived four hours away and had a non-baby-proofed home. The man—who goes @carrerasfam on TikTok, shared a video of the conversation on the platform.

"Dad, no. I know you want us to drive down for the holidays, but it’s kinda ridiculous that you want me to pack my three kids, with their portable beds, with their clothes, with my clothes, the formula, everything that goes on with raising three kids and having them feel comfortable and drive down for over four hours just so that we could spend some time in your house that's not baby-proofed," the man began. The young dad highlighted how he would have to run around all the time behind his kids to ensure that the kids wouldn't break anything at their house. "In which you will 'take care' of them or give me a 'break,'" the dad continued. "Yeah, not this time."

"I think this holiday I am just going to stay in and relax," the man emphasized. "I mean, what do you have going on? You could visit. You don’t have little kids. You don’t have anything going on. Why is it that every time I have to make an effort for you while you can't do the most basic things for me?" He added, "I mean, you could make an effort if you want to see us." However, the boomer dad on the other end was enraged and didn't want to travel to see them because "something might come up." The son remarked, "You have nothing going on, you are practically retired. You don't do anything. You can't make the trip, but you expect me to make the trip, isn't that a double standard?"

The text overlay of the video read, "Millennials with kids telling boomers we're not visiting for the holidays." The caption of the video reads, "Sorry, it’s just so much work. But you’re welcome to visit us." People took to the comments section of the video to express their support for the dad's concerns as well as to share their own experiences. @ohheyitsindy wrote, "The 'not baby-proofed' part hit my soul. It’s so stressful having to chase your kids around and ask to close doors, move pictures, block stairs, etc. And nobody takes you seriously!"

@thereadmama commented, "I’m so glad my kids are grandkids #7-9 for my in-laws! Their house is babyproofed, they got the crib, they got toys, they got everything. I bring the clothes/diapers. It’s 17 hours drive, though." @awkwardturrdle remarked, "My entire family and in-laws live across the country and will get offended when we don’t want to spend over $3000 in plane tickets and another $1000 in dog boarding to visit them more." @duffc shared, "Asked my in-laws to come and celebrate Thanksgiving at our home because we had a newborn. They said 'NO' and decided to drive 3 hrs, one way, to go celebrate it at other people's houses. It was their 1st grandbaby."
