The Obamas are continuing a Christmas tradition that most of us have lost in the digital age. In an Instagram post, forever FLOTUS shared the family's adorable Christmas card.
If you celebrate Christmas, it's likely that your family sends out a Christmas card to other families and close friends (or at least used to, before everything went digital). It appears that the forever first family—the Obamas—also follows this tradition. Now, admittedly, the list of people they send this card to is probably way fancier and much grander than boring old uncle Jim or whatever. However, the message in the card itself was so sweet and heartwarming that we just can't get over it. In an Instagram post, Michelle Obama revealed her family's Christmas card along with a moving caption.
The Instagram post featured a photo of the Christmas card on a wooden desk. The Obamas chose to keep the card quite simple, opting for a white card with a red flower inside. Though the photo only featured the inside of the card, it appears that the front displayed a large tree. The inside of the card read, "We wish you a holiday season that sparkles with magic and wonder and a new year that's filled with peace and hope." With everything that's going on in this country, we sure do need all the wishes of peace and hope that we can get. Perhaps those wishes are more special when they come from none other than Michelle Obama herself. The card was signed by, of course, Michelle and Barack Obama, as well as their daughters Sasha and Malia Obama. What was even cuter was that their dogs Bo and Sunny signed the card too. How sweet!
Michelle Obama wrote in the caption of her post, "Wishing you a holiday season filled with friends, family, and joy. Thanks to so many of you for sharing your hopes and goals with me these past few weeks in the comments and on my Instagram Story. This type of positive and thoughtful engagement from my 'Becoming family' is a reminder that there are millions of us out there constantly striving to become more mindful, compassionate, and caring people. As we end this decade and begin the next one, let’s continue working to become even better—for ourselves and for each other." If nothing else, we can all admit that she is one of the most eloquent leaders out there today (and doesn't need to plagiarize someone else's work). As we move forward into the new decade, let's hope the Obamas are there to guide us with their leadership, activism, and compassion. Here's to 2020!
