Some people have an almost magical ability to get babies to calm down. According to a widely circulated video of the former U.S. president, Barack Obama might just be one of them. The 44th American president was greeting people along with the former first lady, Michelle Obama, when the couple came across a crying infant in the crowd. The baby simply wouldn't stop crying as Michelle Obama tried to bounce her in her arms and play with her, according to a clip shared by CNN's YouTube channel. Right as she was about to give up and return the child to their mother, her one last gesture led to something truly magical.

As the video began, Michelle Obama was seen holding a bawling infant. The former president was babbling to the child as well, his face calm and gentle, but the crying just wouldn't stop. Several people surrounded the couple were constantly taking pictures as they too joined in the efforts to soothe this baby. Barack Obama smiled and laughed, trying to ease the mood and hopefully distract the child, but it only made the crying intensify. Eventually, the former first lady handed the baby back to the family. "Can I get a quick picture of you? I am so sorry," the child's mom requested as the esteemed couple were about to move ahead along the route. Barack Obama, ever the gentleman, said he was happy to take a picture with the baby.

"Come on, baby, come on," the former president said as he called the baby back to him, taking the child from their mother's arms and holding the bundled infant close to him. The moment this transfer happened, as soon as the baby's head rested on Obama's chest, they ceased their previously incessant crying — almost as if some sort of magic trick had been conducted. Michelle Obama looked at him, mouth agape, shock written clearly across her face — she couldn't believe her eyes! Even the baby's family was quite surprised at what went down as they cheered and clapped for Barack Obama, more out of some temporary reprieve than anything else. While the man himself had a smirk on his face after having effortlessly achieved a miracle, bystanders still couldn't fathom the suddenness of this change, with many people sharing their thoughts on the incident in the video's comments.

@hermanjustice7388 wrote, "Now that's a real president. Honest, caring, and a real leader. No lying, the best we've had for years. He will be respected for years to come. I voted for him twice, would do it again." @phillynurse9492 commented, "He was so great with kids. I remember how he ran his campaign targeting the youth to give them hope and to 'rock the vote.' He and Michelle supported the youth by being present, showing up at their events, awards, their struggles and pain. They were the parents in the White House, they are legendary." @GreyDancer expressed, "The smug look he gives Michelle is hilarious! Very funny and candidly human little video clip."

@christerrence5049 remarked, "Babies are drawn to people with genuine Hearts. I usually find kids coming to talk to me in public places such as the mall. They will be the first to initiate conversation. Some just walk up to me with a smile and others just walk up to give me something. It became so regular that I had to ask someone about it and her reply indicated I'm a genuine person with love in my heart & kids know & want it. It's still happening. I guess I'm a baby, too— innocent at heart." @00bikeboy shared, "What a great moment for everyone there, including the President and First Lady. Too precious for words.  Ah, the days when we had competent and compassionate leadership."
