Michael B. Jordan had the money to move out but reveals why he chose to stay with his parents instead

'You get home-cooked meals... random run-ins that just might be a little uncomfortable from time to time,' the celebrity shared.

"Black Panther" star Michael B. Jordan bought his parents a house, but continued to live with them even when he could have easily moved out and lived independently. In an interview with CBS's Sunday Morning, Jordan shared why he did that, revealing a brutal truth about life. The "Fantastic Four" actor said he shares a great relationship with his parents and wants to make the most of the time he has left with them. The interview was released on YouTube on January 4.

Jordan bought his parents a house even before the release of his movie, "Black Panther." He got a separate place, not because he wanted to live separately; in fact, Jordan continued to live with them because he realized that his time with them was limited. "I have a great relationship with my parents, and I wanted to be around [them] as much as I could, you know, and that didn't bother me at all," Jordan explained. He also confessed that buying a house for his parents was a meaningful milestone for him — something he'd dreamt of as a child. "That's always been the childhood dream: to retire your parents and not let them work anymore. I did that, so that's like [fulfilling] a bucket list," he added. Back in 2018, the actor had opened up about it to Ellen DeGeneres. "You get home-cooked meals, but then you also have random trips to the kitchen in the middle of the night. Just the random run-ins that just might be a little uncomfortable from time to time," he joked, reflecting upon his experiences.

Jordan's confession was surprising, because most adult kids nowadays don't prefer living with their parents. Americans, particularly, view the trend very negatively. A survey by the Pew Research Center found that 36% of Americans believe that young adults sharing space with parents is bad for society, as compared to only 16% of respondents who said it's good for society. The same study also revealed that more (42%) men were against the 'co-existing with parents' trend than women (31%). A lot depends on the income, too; people with the lowest incomes are more likely to stay with parents to reduce housing and related expenses, they figured. In fact, nearly one in three American adults lives with parents in their home, especially after the pandemic, which caused significant economic challenges, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

Meanwhile, reacting to Jordan's heartfelt confession, u/only-pepper3110 commented, "He seems to have a great relationship with his parents, so there’s no reason not to live with them. Her question should’ve been framed differently; for example, 'What do you enjoy the most about living with your parents?' would’ve been a stronger question." u/dappledrache shared, "My parents and I live together; they're in their early 70s, and Dad's got some mobility and chronic pain issues, so I'm around to help. I stand by my decision to do this; it just feels right after all they've done for me." Similarly, u/workhardplayharder3 said, "I love this; I plan on allowing my kids to live with me forever if they want to! I’d definitely move in with my kids if they wanted me to! It’s beautiful!"
