'You don't have to know what you're gonna be when you grow up. You don't have to have answers,' the finance celebrity said.

Managing screen time for Gen Z has been challenging, especially after AI has taken over everyone's lives. With young people rallying behind chatbots to create the perfect prompts for their needs, billionaire and former Shark Tank cast member Mark Cuban urges kids to focus on being productive outside the screens. However, contradicting his statement, the billionaire spends hours reading 1,000 emails a day on 3 devices, as reported by Fortune on January 28. Keeping this in mind, the billionaire's point stands tall and is what every Gen Z must ponder upon.

In a recent interview with Inc., billionaire and former Shark Tank cast member Mark Cuban emphasized the importance of prioritizing life outside our screens. Pointing to people's obsession with creating prompts for chatbots, the billionaire urged people to find their true potential outside. Despite the 67-year-old's advice on finding work-life balance, Cuban had earlier revealed that he reads 700 to 1000 emails every day on three different devices. That might not seem like the best person to seek advice on work-life balance from; however, Cuban's point isn't just about prioritizing life outside the screens. The billionaire also noted the importance of equipping oneself in the age of AI advancements, per Sports Illustrated.

He remarked that AI can never replace real-world experiences. Noting his own experience during his first sales gigs at the age of 12, a young Cuban purchased a box of trash bags for $3 and sold them in his neighborhood for $6 because he was saving up money to buy himself a pair of sneakers. While Cuban credits his hustle for his success, he also notes the importance of "having fun" in the process. "You don't have to know what you're gonna be when you grow up. You don't have to have answers. You don't have to have the perfect major. You don't have to pick the perfect job. You're allowed to f*** up," he added.
A 2023 study published in PubMed Central analyzed the importance of "having fun" at workplaces. Surveying 508 employees, the study found that when employees had fun at work, it led to more creativity at work. Allowing fun experiences enhances positive behavior among employees, leading to higher productivity. "Fun can be a mental fix to help employees cope with emotional exhaustion and negative affect, and scholars have examined the benefits of experiencing fun at work with regard to enhanced employee motivation," the study notes. As mentioned by Cuban, work must not always be serious, nor must our work be perfect. It's okay to make mistakes and enjoy the learning in the process.
