The employer refused to reason with Elijah Goodman and kept berating him until he decided to take a stand for himself.

There’s nothing more an employee wants than to call out a toxic superior, but for many unfortunate reasons, they’re forced to hold back. An insurance sales employee named Elijah Goodman (@elijahgoodman1) decided to set things straight when his manager berated him, per the Daily Dot. Sharing a video on TikTok, the salesman revealed a glimpse of the woman insulting his work over the last few weeks. He then decided to take a stand for himself and call her out for her unacceptable performance. What he didn’t expect was to receive a job offer as a result of his confrontation.

The employee's September 29 post told the story in great detail. As he sat in his boss' office with his phone on 'record,' he was told that his performance was not up to the mark. “Your numbers over the past several weeks have been disappointing at best,” the employer said. He explained that he had been having a hard time, which is why his numbers were low. He also added that his performance over the year has been pretty great. This didn’t seem to convince the manager, and she was bent on her perspective. Having snobby and ruthless managers is not unheard of in today’s work culture, but Goodman's response left her squirming. A survey done by The Harris Poll revealed that 31% of American employees are working under toxic bosses. It showed how 51% of employers hold unreasonable expectations from their workers, while 49% indulge in micromanaging every task. What’s more, around 53% of American employees are struggling with an overbearing workload, even on weekends and holidays, due to a relentless employer. Goodman also found himself in this category when his manager was insulting him for his performance. That’s when he took a stand for himself and called out his manager’s work.

“Remember when you worked in sales? And how bad were you? How horrific you were! And somehow you got promoted to sales manager even though you couldn’t sell a damn thing yourself,” he boldly remarked. The woman immediately got offended and retaliated by saying, “Are you delusional?” Goodman then backed his accusations with proof and said that he looked at the numbers. The employer was still trying to defend herself, and when Goodman refused to budge, she asked him to leave the office.

Many people were aware of the brutality of Sales' life. @billsmaysshamwow said, "When I was in Sales, we had a saying. 'Those who can sell, SELL. Those who can't, MANAGE.'" @william_spano added, "'Are you delusional?' 'No, I saw the numbers' has me dead."

In a follow-up video, the employee revealed that his bosses saw the video and demanded he apologize to the manager. He did record another message, but it wasn’t an apology to persuade. “To my sales manager, Bridget, I apologize for absolutely nothing,” he said. “You suck at your job. You don’t deserve the job you have, and the fact that you’re making me publicly apologize for sucking at your job is ridiculous,” he boldly added. And as anyone would expect, the next follow-up revealed that Goodman was let go of his job. However, this was not totally bad news since the employee had done his job putting the truth out there and had more support than he imagined.

“This job is a joke. I’m excited to work for a company that will value me as an employee,” he wrote in the caption. His integrity actually got him a job offer. While many companies commented with praise for the employee, @farmersinsurancechicago wrote, “We’re hiring.” With this support and the hope of offers coming in, Goodman’s honesty and determination have encouraged employees not to settle for a toxic culture.
