He drew pictures, demonstrating what the lady could do to him if she was irritated by the noise.

Have you ever felt guilty of turning on the blender at midnight, not because you promised to eat healthy, but because you're scared of disturbing the neighbors? A man (u/ticklishrabbit) living in an apartment for the very first time bought a new blender and was scared that he might annoy his neighbor. So, he wrote her a letter, but let's say it was a bit too weird to send it across. Confused, he turned to Reddit on November 13, asking if his hilarious note was appropriate to send to the lady next door.

The man didn't like having oatmeal for breakfast, so he got a blender to make smoothies instead. However, he was worried that the apartment he lived in had thin walls, so his neighbor could hear him use the blender. To avoid possible fights, he decided to write a letter apologizing to the lady next door beforehand. In his note, he wrote, "I am afraid I have some rather morbid news." He informed her about buying a new blender and apologized for triggering noise-related stress. The man drew three pictures, hilariously demonstrating what the lady could do to him if she got too pissed by the noise: 1. She could kick him in the nuts, 2. Blend him in the blender, or 3. Beat him in a bare-knuckle boxing tournament, because irritated by the noise, she could "develop a taste for blood." Going further, the man confessed he would use the blender with utmost consideration and asked her to tell him the ideal times to use it, without disturbing her. "I work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so there will definitely be peace in the land over those days," he wrote. The man also mentioned possessing cannabis and asked if the neighbor would accept some as a "peace offering." In the end, he added a disclaimer, clarifying that the letter was written in a satirical and humorous tone.
In his post, the man also mentioned that he would make large batches of smoothies and freeze them to last a long time. "And also doing my vacuuming whilst blending," he added. The post went viral, but a majority of people insisted that the man not send his neighbor the letter. They said it might scare her, especially because he wasn't her friend or even someone she knew closely. Living in a noisy neighborhood can be annoying, especially when the neighbors are unapologetically irritating. In fact, an Ipsos survey commissioned by the National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection (NSCA) found that 7 in 10 people are bothered by one or more sources of noise in their neighbourhood. Moreover, 12% said their quality of life suffers because of noise when they are at home. However, while his intentions were clear, sending such an over-the-top letter would be a huge risk. Especially because their sense of humor may not match and end up causing bad consequences from a good gesture.
Meanwhile, reacting to the post, u/extension-pain-3284 commented, "Just use your blender at like 3 pm and don’t overthink it. You’re allowed to do stuff in your apartment." u/loud-biscotti-4798 wrote, "This letter is hilariously innocent and absolutely terrifying at the same time. Please never give any neighbors any notes like this. Ever." u/chironreversed said, "It was unnecessary but funny. Use your blender whenever you want within the non-quiet hours of your area; that is usually between 8 am and 10 pm." u/ok-actuator7302 said, "It was a cute satirical note, especially the drawings. Now put it away in your diary or journal and enjoy your smoothies. No one else needs to know. Oh, and congrats on the new blender."

u/forgetfulkaiju suggested, "I agree with everyone else that it comes off really weird. If I got a note like this, I’d be weirded out but amused because I do get the humor. Overall, it’s too long, too complicated, and too familiar. Just leave a quick note asking that they let you know if the blender bothers them. If they do, try coming up with a timeframe that works better for you both. (For example, I save playtime with my dog for when I know my downstairs neighbor is out)." u/ancient-wear8246 commented, "This screams socially awkward over-thinker, not wanting to be a nuisance to avoid future confrontation. I laughed at the note, thinking of someone who likes not to be a problem starter for someone unintentionally."
