A couple who was ridiculed for having their proposal in a KFC outlet received support from the internet for their dream wedding.
For most couples, the moment that one of them proposes to the other is a magical moment. Some couples are fortunate enough to go to high-end restaurants and propose with a fancy ring. But some couples may face financial struggles, so they opt to go for a simple ceremony. At the end of the day, none of this matters so long as the love they have is genuine and strong. South African couple Hector Mkansi and Nonhlanhla Soldaat gained traction after Mkansi proposed to her at a KFC outlet in South Africa.
According to CNN, the couple first met while they both were attending a funeral in 2010 and have been together since then. They actually got married in 2012, but they had to sacrifice a lot and could only do the bare minimum for the wedding. He said, "In 2011, our families began lobola negotiations (dowry), and in 2012, we got married in a small traditional ceremony as that was all we could afford at the time… We had the ceremony, but I knew this wasn't what my wife and I wanted."

Mkansi also wanted to get his wife a better ring and decided to propose to her once again at her favorite restaurant, KFC. He asked the staff at the establishment to help him with the proposal, and they complied, although they were a bit surprised. The couple got their food and Mkansi had asked them to put the ring in their food. Soldaat found it and it was at this moment that he went down on his knees. The woman can be seen wiping away tears of happiness as she accepts and puts on the ring.

It is truly heartwarming to see the couple's happiness even with such a simple proposal. Even though many people were recording, an employee at KFC captured the clip, and it blew up. The video received mixed comments from people on social media. A few people thought the KFC proposal was lackluster and that Mkansi could have done better. But the internet joined hands to make the couple's dream wedding a reality.

KFC South Africa stepped in and provided the couple with a project manager to help them plan their wedding. The couple also got an overwhelming amount of support from various brands. Audi and Lexus volunteered to provide a car that would drive them around on their wedding day. Airlines such as Kulula and Mango offered to take the couple to any honeymoon destination that they wanted.

Mkansi was shocked to see such support from his fellow citizens and big brands. He said, "We are still in disbelief. Both of us have to ask each other from time to time if this is really happening. We couldn't be more grateful to God and every single person who has shared in our little love story." The couple will surely never forget the amount of kindness and help that allowed them to make their love official. It also shows how people can do wonderful things if they work together.
