'Somebody hire my wife. She's a lot smarter than me.'

In today's market landscape, searching for a job is akin to going into battle — although some would argue that the former's outcomes are far less clear. A man (@empty_heaven) from Chicago saw his wife, a lawyer, struggling to find a job. He wanted to help her, so he turned his wife's résumé into a catchy song, urging recruiters to hire her for an appropriate position. The man shared it on January 8, and so far, it has been viewed 1.5 million times on TikTok.
@empty_heaven My lawyer wife is looking for work; I am helping the only way I am qualified to do so. DM for more information, but this is a weirdly informative song. #lawyer #attorney #legalwork #jobsearch #lawyersoftiktok ♬ original sound - Empty_Heaven
"Somebody hire my wife," he began singing while playing the piano. One after the other, he listed all the qualities of his wife and gave a sneak peek at her résumé. "She's a lot smarter than me. She’s looking for legal work in Chicago or remote, at legal writing; she’s the GOAT," he added. His wife, he said, is an expert in handling appeals, vehicular and animal cruelty, and SVU-related cases, and she would make a great addition to a team. "She's worked in government and private; she's got a real great mindset; she's the f******g light of my life," the man said, confessing his love for his wife. He concluded his song by saying it was the only way he could have helped her find a job. "Comment your email, and she’ll send you a résumé," he added.
@empty_heaven UPDATE. My little “Somebody Hire My Wife” song has exceeded all expectations…especially for Nicolette. I provided some fabulous updates in the video (and actually got her involved in it for a second). Please DM any and all leads in Chicago you may have! We have covered an insane amount of ground for 3 days, but the hunt continues. Also, sorry about any DMs or comments involving needing a lawyer PERSONALLY; she actually doesn’t have her own practice and is more of a staff attorney/counsel/legal writer! #lawyer #attorney #jobsearch #legalwork #lawyersoftiktok ♬ original sound - Empty_Heaven
Three days later, he returned to post an update about his wife. The man said that since his last reel went viral, they'd been receiving a lot of job inquiries, but the search is still on. "While she is still applying on her own, and it would have happened anyway on her own merit, this has been a major, major help," he explained. Moreover, the man urged people to continue sharing leads to jobs in Chicago. "We have covered an insane amount of ground for 3 days, but the hunt continues," he added.
Social media platforms have emerged as an amazing medium to search for jobs. When Content Stadium surveyed in-house recruitment, talent acquisition, and employer branding teams, they found that almost all (98%) of recruitment, talent acquisition, and employer branding teams use social media for communication. Likewise, StandOut CV had also carried out two surveys where they found that 91% of all employers rely on social media for the hiring process. The same study revealed that nearly half (45%) of recruiters post content on social media to engage with candidates. What's more surprising is that social media presence also influences hiring decisions. In fact, 21% of recruiters said they have rejected a candidate after looking them up on Facebook.

People loved how the husband made diligent efforts to help his wife find a job; for instance, @mzmotorboat commented, "Do you know what this shows? His wife has a strong and positive relationship at home, so you know his wife will be focused on the work and not the drama at home. Just putting that out there for anyone thinking about bringing her on!" Similarly, @mineralfather wrote, "Guaranteed that this would land her a bunch of job interviews with a great company. Nifty little jingle, my guy! If I worked in law, it would make me look at her resume on principle." @ohohkaywendy shared, "Obsessed. Showing this to my husband and watching again because it is a bop. Somebody hire his wife; she's worked government and private, and she's got a really great mindset."
