Man thought he wasn't 'equipped' to be a girl dad. The heartfelt poem he wrote proves otherwise.

The moment dads know that they are going to bring a baby girl into the world, something inside of them changes. There is a whole new delicate aura that comes into them and suddenly, they are ready to give their life to protect someone who hasn’t even stepped foot into the world yet. Girl dads have a whole side that is secluded for their daughters and it is truly a priceless and unique bond like no other. Pen Tapper—who goes by @nailinmyfoot on TikTok—shared a video expressing what it feels like to be a girl dad and he has hit the nail on the head. His journey is a complete topsy one, which he expressed delightfully in a poem and one can’t get enough.

The dad of two wrote a poem to describe his loving daughter and what it’s like to raise her. Before he could recite the same, he gave a background explaining what it felt like to begin a journey so fragile yet so priceless. “Whenever my wife and I found out that our second child was gonna be a baby girl, I was extremely nervous because I’m a boy dad,” he said. He added that being a boy dad came to him naturally, given his experiences and the connection he knew he’d have. “I never had any fears or reservations about it,” he added.

The dad then pointed out that he wasn’t well-versed with the delicacies and intricacies of raising a girl. “I still feel like I tricked my wife into it,” he said. “I am taking it very seriously, but I wish I’d have trusted myself more in the beginning,” the dad added. He then mentioned how much in awe he is to have his little girl be a part of his life every single day. “I envisioned a delicate flower, but she’s a mix of a raccoon and badger. Super cute nonetheless,” the dad confessed. To elaborate more on what it felt like to raise a baby girl and the twists and turns it brought compared to the journey he thought it was, the dad shared his poem.

“This is called Banks,” the dad said before reciting the poem. “She hardly listens to me, but I supplied her with that trait. She’s more free than her peers. She won’t fall for trick or bait,” the dad recited. “She barely takes my affection though I offer it, despite filled to the brim with fire. She likes to play but loves to fight,” the dad continued to read. As he read the further lines, he described her eyes, behavior, curiosity and how being with her was so different than what he had imagined. “I’d sign up again a thousand times, hold on, ride around this curve. It’s an honor to be the dad of a girl I don’t deserve,” he concluded.

His eyes, smile and words clearly described how imperfectly perfect his parenthood is for his baby girl.
