The man wondered if the other two sons got his wife's 'slow' genes

Adejoro Olumofin (@joroolumofin), also known as 'THE LOVE DOCTOR,' is Africa's number one matchmaker. His content involves sharing screenshots of emails he received, asking for advice, and often censoring the sender's name. One such email was from a father who found out his oldest son was not his. He secretly got a DNA test done and his first reaction was thanking God and his wife that she had the affair. The post was shared on June 25, and it received 2,500 comments.
The man began his email by calling his first son 'the joy of his life.' He explained that his first son was an academic genius and was the best at Math, Science, and English. Last year, he participated in an international debate competition and brought home $25,000. The father admitted that he was extremely proud of him, and he has a bright future ahead. The Governor promised him a scholarship abroad, and the father revealed that he even made connections with influential people through his son. He believed his son was 'perfect,' and wrote, "I used to beat my chest and say, 'That is my son.' Now, DNA has humbled me so much."

He continued to tell Olumofin about his other two sons. He called them "slow academically" for not knowing basic algebra, failing social studies, and not knowing general knowledge about Nigeria. In the past, he begged teachers to promote them in school. He did not know if he should be angry with his wife or "be grateful for the miracle she brought into my life." He was hurt, but at the same time, he questioned his genes. "I'm smart academically," he admitted to Olumofin in the email, and said the two might have inherited his wife's genes. He was told the 'Love Doctor' that he was torn between telling his wife that he knew and keeping it a secret. He did not want the child's biological father to take him away. He even admitted, "Sometimes I even wish that affair continued, so the other two boys would have come out sharp like their elder brother."

A 2024 study conducted by Lisa Hayward, a doctoral student at the University of Washington, found that 50% of men preferred routine paternity testing compared to 32% of women. Sievert Rohwer, a co-author of the study, also revealed what the men who do not want a paternity test had to say: "There’s this fascinating aspect that when we ask the guys who do not favor paternity testing why they are opposed, more than half of them say, 'Ignorance is bliss.'" The same could somehow be said about the father. When he did not know his first son was not his, he was proud to call himself his father. Now that he knew the truth, he was still proud of the boy's achievements, but he confessed he felt "humbled."

The comment section was ruthless and did not go easy on the father. However, some netizens gave the man some additional advice. @adetutumary_ commented, "I'd suggest you inform your wife, and a maternity test be carried out. This should be done to rule out any hospital switching that you both aren't aware of. If it turns out that your wife is his mother, then it's up to you now." @theniola04 wrote, "People will love and support you when it’s beneficial."
