Vlogger Harrison Webb pretended to be a delivery driver to surprise friends he hadn’t seen in five years with food.
Having friends is one thing, but keeping the friendship sailing through tumultuous times is one hell of a challenge. Especially with busy schedules and fast-paced lives, it becomes almost impossible to meet one’s near and dear ones. That’s why YouTube personality and food vlogger Harrison Webb (@HarrisonWebb97) came up with an unusual idea to catch up with some of his old buddies staying in the US. The content creator conducted a fun social experiment, posing as a delivery driver and knocking on the doors of pals he had not seen for the last five years with fancy dishes.
His friends’ reactions captured in the widely circulating video were priceless and ranged from surprise to utter shock. One of Harrison’s buddies even failed to recognize him. The video begins with the YouTuber walking down the streets in Los Angeles until he finds an appealing eatery, "Air1." “I have never been here before. We're getting some food, but I've heard this place is quite expensive,” he tells his 794K followers.
Harrison wanted to give his buddy Kian the best Uber Eats experience of his life. While scrolling through the food items on display, his attention was caught by a dish costing $29. Amazed by the price, he instead went for a pearl barley salad. After being handed the meal, the video creator says, “I've just seen the price. This is 10 bucks. That's kind of mad. I've actually dislocated my jaw.”
Following this, the scene transitions to Harrison standing outside Kian’s house. “I am so nervous. I haven't seen him in like five years. I've gone for the disguise of like, he's going to know it's me, but it's going to take him like maybe three seconds. But if he doesn't recognize me, this is going to be so awkward and I'm going to walk away and then we'll re-knock,” the vlogger remarks in the video.
To Harrison’s surprise, Kian not only knew it was his pal but also gave him a tight hug. The friends were not regularly in touch, yet their emotional reaction upon reunion moved Kian’s wife. She was smiling while holding a baby in her hands, all engrossed in the wholesome moment. “Oh, my god! My heart is racing, my boy. It is pounding out of my chest after seeing his reaction and the funniest thing was that I felt so nervous meeting him,” Harrison says before moving to get some food for another long-lost friend named JC.
The YouTube creator reached Sarkis Liquor to get a burrito for JC. One of their common friends, Anderson, recommended the place as he liked the food served there. Harrison purchased the steak and bacon grilled cheese burrito that looked “fire” with what he described as the “crack sauce” inside for its tangy flavor. Then, the 8-minute-long footage shows the vlogger knocking on JC’s apartment door. It again turned out to be a happy reunion moment, with JC immediately recognizing the “weirdo” delivery agent.
The last and final attempt to meet a friend named Franny resulted in an unexpected ending. Harrison brought her a DoorDash order containing the “booziest” sushi box worth $35, sponsored by Anderson. She opened the door and could not recognize that it was her friend behind the black hat and dark glasses. The experiment video with 1.7 million views ended with the food vlogger enjoying the sushi alone, sparking a variety of reactions from those who watched it. “The fact that you left and ate the food because she didn’t recognize you is absolutely hilarious,” @Cheeba_ commented. @breeharlow9115 wrote, “Kian following you with the biggest smile warmed my heart so much.”
