The job market continues to become difficult, making people's lives harder. But this has also pushed some individuals to find alternative methods to find a living by looking at positions offering certain perks. TikTok user Aaron Alford–who goes by @aaronalfordacts–recently shared a video stitched with Blaire Allison (@blaire_allison), answering her question about how people were affording to live in the modern world. The video has gained 744K views on the platform, with over 75K likes. He begins the video by briefing his viewers that he is going to tell them a "huge life hack."

Alford provides some background about his lifestyle by saying, "For the past almost six years, I haven't paid any rent or an electricity bill or a water bill." Out of these six years, three were spent living in a place that was 40 minutes outside of Los Angeles and happens to be one of the most expensive places to live in America. It almost sounds too good to be true and he clarifies how he went about it. He reveals, "I am a resident manager at a storage facility."

He shares how many storage facilities preferred to have someone working for them on the property at all times. So, working as a manager for a storage facility meant that they would provide a place to live. He says, "Currently I have a three-bedroom apartment in Houston, Texas, that I pay zero dollars for." The next question that most people would have after hearing all the perks the job had to offer would be the experience or education that it requires.

He answers sarcastically that he had a completely unrelated theatre degree and still managed to get the job. He explains how the requirements would vary depending on the job, but it mostly relies on people's abilities to rent out rooms to people and collect money from them promptly. He concludes by saying that the job was "stupid easy." People on the site found Alford's revelations interesting and put down their thoughts in the comment section.

@rlf061916 shared, "I'm a property manager for a gated townhome community and don't pay for rent or utilities as well." @rexxxy87 shared, "I've known this, but it's so hard finding an open position. These are rare." Another individual, @binacat53, commented, "I knew someone with a similar job as an on-site manager of an RV park. Free space rent and utilities plus salary." @buttercupbraces said, "I honestly thought this man was going to say he lived with his parents."

Such job openings are rare and one would be extremely lucky to find them. Most of them currently have unrealistic standards, especially when it comes to the minimum experience for any position. TikTok user Emma–who goes by @earthlyemmagrace–shared a video in May 2023 about how challenging it was for people to land an entry-level job. In the video, she highlights how an entry-level Consulting Associate position requires at least eight years of experience. She concludes her video by saying, "The job hunt is 90% me rolling my eyes at LinkedIn postings."
