Leighton who has been married for 25 years, says that they are extremely comfortable and get directly to the point in their conversations.
Love can stand the test of time when the relationship is supported by things such as entertainment, compassion, as well as understanding. This was visible in the "romantic texts" that a man in Maine decided to share on Instagram after receiving them from his wife. Chip Leighton, (@the_leighton_show), 52, recently took to the platform and shared a list of text messages that he gets from his wife. The list included texts like, "Could you whisk that salad dressing any louder?", and "Close garage door" as well as "Do we have yogurt?".
Leighton who has been married for 25 years tells Newsweek that they have gotten to a point where they are extremely comfortable and do not hesitate to get to the point in their conversations. "It's a lot of either very practical messages—' Send me the code' or 'Did u feed the cat?'—or some not-so-subtle feedback—' I've never heard anyone eat popcorn as loudly as you just did,'" he said. Leighton is known for sharing humourous family content on his Instagram handle. He believes that little things should stay little and not create hindrances in a relationship. He then goes on to share a piece of advice that he had recently heard at a wedding.
"The officiant gave some great advice to the bride and groom: 'Don't let the little things become big things.' I think if you can laugh at the little things, it defuses them and takes away their importance. It's tough to be mad about something you're laughing about," he told Newsweek. Some of the other hilarious texts that he included in the two videos that he posted, included, "We're going to spend whatever it takes to get Taylor Swifty tickets," and "What should we do for dinner."Other hilarious texts included, "Man you really squished down this patio cushion" and "So we're having smoked paprika delivered every 4 months."
In his other video, he included texts like, "I bought that stupid peppermint ice cream you like," "I can hear you peening from every room in the house," and "It's really boring you'd probably like it."
Many people took to the comment section to talk about the cute yet realistic texts, "So, the good news is, you married a solid lady, who gets straight to the point. This a blessing you may never fully appreciate - but I assure you, count your blessings," writes @jenknopf, and @bonniebrannigan jokes, "At least you see her texts. I have to ask my husband two days later."
Speaking with Newsweek, he later said, "You can see in the comments so many people saying it looks like I hacked their phone. I guess a remarkably high number of texts have to do with what's for dinner tonight, and there are more than a few about a spouse's sneezing volume." Many Instagram users were also extremely eager to know if the couple was able to get their hands on Taylor Swift tickets, and Leighton later confirmed that he did. "My wife and daughter went and said it was absolutely incredible," he added.
