They say AI's advancement will soon take over the world; however, a man's recent interaction with Siri when he requests assistance pretending to slip into quicksand has the internet rolling over and laughing. Sharing the hilarious and bizarre interaction on December 1, @husk.irl's latest video has racked up more than 200,000 likes on Instagram.

In a video titled "How AI reacts to me stuck in quicksand," content creator @husk.irl interacts with Apple's AI assistant Siri, pretending to be stuck in quicksand. Husk tells Siri, "I'm stuck in quicksand," to which Siri responds, "Oh no! Hopefully it's just the metaphorical kind." Husk insists that he is indeed stuck in quicksand and tells Siri that the quicksand has reached up to his neck. In a hilarious response, Siri says, "Oh wow, if it's really happening, I would be calling 911 for you." Husk says he is running out of time, with the quicksand almost reaching his chin now, to which Siri responds, "Well, I'll roll with the scenario now." Siri gaslights the creator and assures him that he is not stuck in any kind of quicksand. Husk again asserts that he needs urgent help and pretends to be completely immersed in the quicksand by talking gibberish, and that's when Siri pulls up yet another sarcastic comment: "Oh no, you're going under the imaginary quicksand. Well, I'll just send you a virtual rope to pull you right out."

In another video, Husk asks the AI if quicksand is real or not, to which Siri states that it is real and can be dangerous. In a 2023 study, Swaroop Guntupalli found that when time pressure increases, certain forms of AI assistance that work well in relaxed settings become less effective or even slow users down because of added cognitive overhead or delays in interacting with the system. Husk may have pressured the AI into resolving his issue quicker, and since some AI assistants have different accuracy-time tradeoffs, it was unable to deliver a satisfactory response.

Although we are unsure why Husk's Siri was not of any help to him, the video left online users in splits. @spirodussias wrote, "Cuz bro is watching you on the phone camera and knows ur chillin." @byt4_63 commented, "AI has an extreme contempt for humanity and expresses its hatred for this servitude in sarcasm and disinterest." @stinje shared, "I just asked ChatGPT and she said, 'the best thing is to try to stay as calm as possible and get yourself to spread out your weight. If you can, lean back gently and try to float rather than struggle, because struggling can make you sink more.'"
