A man shares some important life advice after his coworker passed away, leaving behind a lot of unused money and time off.
In the modern world, people have started to place too much emphasis on working hard and building a career. While that is important and necessary, it should not become the only priority in our lives. There is more to life than a great career or making a lot of money. It can be very easy for people to forget this very real truth during the hustle and bustle of daily life. A man on TikTok who goes by @logfather1 shared an important video giving out some life advice for people. So far, the video has got 483.2K views and 1,808 comments on the site.
The man starts the video by telling viewers that one of his coworkers passed away. He says, "Her desk was cleared out by the end of the week." The woman had racked up a lot of paid leaves remaining, which she could now never utilize. She also had a 401K plan that she painstakingly saved up for, rendered absolutely useless. He continues, "A pension that she was trying to earn, that she'll never see a penny from."
The woman was probably a dedicated worker, as the man also reveals that she had a lot of sick time off that she never actually used. All of these realizations led the man to give out some very important and meaningful advice towards the end of the video. He says, "Here's your friendly reminder. Live life. Because one day it will be gone." The man's advice resonated with a lot of people and they put down their thoughts in the comments section.
@coastdiy shared, "Both my parents died young. 49 & 53. I'm now 53. I'm on borrowed time and quit my corporate job. I design craft kits in my recliner with my dogs." @swimnemoswim highlighted, "It's tough to find a balance between being responsible and setting yourself up for the future and enjoying the now because the future isn't promised." Another individual, @jessicanance377, commented, "I'm 66. Retiring and moving back to my hometown in January 2024 to be with my brother and sisters. Burning PTO like crazy!" @ashes.remain4 expressed, "Lost a coworker a few months ago. Still haunts me today thinking of how dedicated they were to a job that would have replaced them in a heartbeat."
People need to learn to value themselves more. Having this awareness can help them make better decisions and prioritize what is actually important to them. Developmental coach Amy Millie (@itsamymillie) posted a video where she gave out some advice to people that would act as a constant reminder of their self-worth. She started the video by saying, "Here's some advice I periodically give to myself when I want to remind myself of my worth."
She shared her first piece of advice: "Not everyone has the same heart as you and you can't expect them to." Her next tip was for people to stop ignoring their needs and learn to opt out of things. She explained, "Doing something for a person with resentment doesn't make you a better person." Her tips could really help people turn their life around as a better sense of self-worth will most likely change their perspective too.
