Man reveals how living in a 5-star resort in Turkey is cheaper than renting in Manchester

Many parts of the world are now facing a dire economic situation where people are struggling to afford even the necessities. Not just housing prices, but also the cost of food, groceries and household requirements are skyrocketing. The cost of living is forcing many to rethink their lifestyle choices. Many hot takes on this issue have been circulating on social media and recently, British content creator Josh Kerr posted a video on TikTok giving us a reality check on the expense of living in Manchester, UK. Following Seattle-based Ben Keenan's popular video about how living in all-inclusive resorts is cheaper than renting an apartment, Kerr decided to test the possibility.

Kerr began his video by saying, that he found out how cheaper 5-star all-inclusive resorts in Turkey were compared to his Manchester apartment's rent. To prove this, he got into a holiday planning website named, "On The Beach" to check and compare the prices. As he fed the travel dates and requirements like "all-inclusive" and "lowest price" the results were shocking. At just £938 for 28 nights, Kerr found a 5-star resort in Antalya, Turkey that included all the meals and even travel costs from Manchester. Upto 20kg hold luggage costs were also included in the total amount and Kerr was shocked.

"What more could you want?" said Kerr. The British man found this beach-side resort to be a better option than living in the rainy city of Manchester. As he scrolled through the pictures of the 5-star hotel, it was evident that it was way more comfortable and luxurious than a rented apartment. Kerr pointed out that he was paying £955 for his rent and bills in Manchester and that this exotic stay was much cheaper considering that it provides all meals including breakfast, lunch, evening meal, snacks and drinks. "What are we doing in England?" he exclaimed. Kerr's video reached over 2.2 million views and thousands of users commented expressing their disbelief. Some could relate to Kerr's point and shared their experience with a higher cost of living.

"I paid £2000 per calendar month just to rent a 2-bed apartment in Manchester for 19 months. It’s insane living in Manchester now," said @lokis_85. "I have currently paid £900 all-inclusive two weeks in Tenerife. Not bad at all," chimed in @holidayaroundtheworld00. "For what I pay in America, I’m pretty sure I could own a small city in Turkey," joked @djdjo722. "Why do we pay these insane costs in rent? It's not ok," added @dennis_hakansson.

Earlier this February, Keenan (@ivebentraveling) broke down his expenses for living in America and it came up to $4000. So, when he tested his theory of how lifestyle was cheaper in all-inclusive resorts, he bumped into a few resorts in Mexico where an entire month's cost came up to $4445 including all expenses. Though it was around $500 higher than what he was paying already, he pointed out that the Mexican resort offered him a high-end lifestyle. "But bear in mind, I'm not paying the most expensive rent out there compared to what other people might be paying," he added. Keenan found much cheaper options in other cities too.
