The difference between the two generations is so glaringly obvious and true that people couldn't help but categorize themselves in the comments.

It is a popular belief that different generations have drastically different ways of dealing with work and the challenges that come with it. While millennials are exceedingly popular for putting work before everything, Gen Z is known to put themselves before work every time. In a hilarious skit by Henry—who goes by @thatcorporatelawyer on TikTok—the difference between a millennial and Gen Z resigning from a job is highlighted and people online are relating to it hard. The creator captioned the video, "Wish I was more Gen Z."

The video begins with a millennial sitting in front of his computer, ready to tell his boss or manager that he wants to quit. He stuttered, "I... I've loved this job. Uh, unfortunately, I found a new job." The man also assured his manager that he would keep working until the last day of his notice period. When asked about his experience, the man put a hand on his heart and said, "Yeah, I've got severe anxiety and depression from this job but thank you so much for the opportunities."

While the millennial looked quite serious and even a little nervous while breaking the news to his manager, the Gen Z employee looked quite calm and even a little excited as he gave his resignation. "I don't wanna work here anymore so I am giving you my notice," the Gen Z stated. He hilariously added, "It's definitely you not me." When the manager asked if he could do anything to keep the employee, he gave a straightforward response, "Uh no Kevin, I think you should get therapy." As a parting note, the Gen Z said, "Alright then, thanks for everything. Cheers bye bye." The man threw a peace sign and logged out.

The video received over 123k likes and 1.6 million views. People took to the comments section to talk about which employee they can relate to and which one they aspire to be. @magellan_thefallon wrote, "Why is the millennial so spot on though? Are we okay? Do we need group therapy?" @vivianrtang commented, "I’m so millennial, but I’m also so Gen Z because I told HR that my boss needs therapy." @aparks99 remarked, "Gen Z here. I wrote ‘I quit’ in latte art on a coffee at my barista job and posted it in the employee Facebook group."

@tili_lexi shared, "I’m a millennial but I identify as Gen Z. They have taught me so much about my self-worth." @baro_madina expressed, "Please, why is this so inaccurate? Gen Z’s that I had as colleagues were SUPER introverts, like nine out of 10 of them. They barely talk to anyone, and when they were quitting they were too shy to say goodbye, just left."

In another similar story, a video shared by @fishbowlapp on Instagram depicts how different generations react to having a new employee in the office. The boomer made it clear that they don't care about whoever comes in as they are about to retire. They also made themselves unavailable for any help. On the other hand, the Gen X woman stated that the person shouldn't expect emotions from her. “By the way, you are not the emotional type, right? Because I don't do well with those. I tend to criticize a lot and I'm well known for my gaslighting, which does make people a little nervous," she said. The millennial was the only warm person in the skit. However, the conversation started on a positive note but ended with the millennial drowning in discussions about stress and mental health concerns. In a stark contrast, the Gen Z was least bothered and explained how she is here to "vibe and not work." The video accurately highlighted how different eras have impacted each generation's approach to the most basic things in life.
