An adventurer makes a surprising discovery at the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza while soaring above it—leaving the internet amazed.
Among the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Giza remains open year-round, attracting tourists from all over. But one uninvited guest managed to surprise everyone by reaching the top of the 3,800-year-old structure in Egypt. Adventurer and extreme sports athlete Marshall Mosher was paragliding above the 450-foot pyramid when he spotted the unusual visitor. Mosher captured the moment in a video posted to his Instagram (@marshallmosher).
To Mosher’s surprise, he spotted a dog barking at birds from the top of the pyramid. While participating in the SkyOne Egypt Gate 6 paramotoring event, Marshall spotted the dog from above the heights. “A dog climbed up the Great Pyramid of Giza! Do you think he lives up there?” the caption reads, as the 20-second GoPro footage went viral online, leaving the internet in awe.
“Just as these ancient monuments have stood the test of time, built stone by stone through sheer will, grit and vision, we too can create lasting legacies when we pursue our dreams relentlessly: whether that dream is to fly over the pyramids or a dog’s dream to have the most epic view in all of Egypt!” Marshall added. The incident took place on October 14 this year.
The video showed Marshall flying around the massive royal tomb structures made out of limestone and baked mud bricks. Suddenly, all his attention was drawn toward a strange animal-like creature flocking over the Pyramid of Giza. Upon closer examination, the paraglider found that the dog was barking at some birds. As the sports athlete circled the steep site, he smiled in surprise at the sight of the canine. Talking about his experience, Marshall said, "I just saw some movement, and when I looked closer, I realized it was a dog—barking and chasing birds from the very top of the pyramid."
In a follow-up video the next day, Marshall again decided to paramotor above the Pyramids of Giza. “So, we are going to fly above the pyramid to see if the dog is still there,” the professional paraglider told his 282K followers. However, this time, he was not able to find any uninvited guests. Notably, the earlier footage has amassed millions of views, including around 920K likes and hundreds of comments.
Among the reactions, @oalonsoalvarez commented, “Dogs are the most ancient creatures in the world.” Adding to it, @wyattd711 joked, “None of his (the dog’s) friends are going to believe him.” Others claimed it was not a dog but a divine intervention. “That is the Egyptian God Anubis. He is considered the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of the tombs. That's why it is over the pyramid,” wrote @betomathevs. Sharing a different perspective, @oliveantfox empathized, “I wonder how long it took him. I want him to come down and get some water.”
