Pineapple on pizza is an idea that is capable of starting heated debates among hardcore pizza lovers. So when this fellow ordered a slice of the cheesy goodness with some pineapple on the side, he got more than what he asked for and it's absolutely hilarious. Reddit user Dillan—who goes by u/Spacemancleo on the platform—shared an interesting story involving a pizza order in the r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit on June 15, 2023, which quickly gained the attention of countless netizens.

Dillan narrated how his father had "ordered a Hawaiian pizza with pineapple on the side" but his order got taken way too literally by the pizza shop. One creative employee decided to neatly arrange the savory and sweet fruit slices on the pizza by lining them up along the sides of it. "Technically correct, I suppose," Dillan wrote alongside a picture of the strangest-looking pizza slice.

Thousands of Reddit users reacted to the unique pizza topping arranged in a weird fashion with laughter and a generous dose of confusion as well. One person wrote how Dillan and his dad got "pizza trolled" whereas others pointed out that "technically correct is the best kind of correct."

Reddit users battled it out in the comment section as some questioned why would anyone want a pizza topping as a side dish. "This is what's infuriating about the post. Who even wants pineapples on the side? You can't just add them to the slice like it's going to be the same," u/HippieLizLemon commented. u/stavrdici joked: "This is so funny and what makes it even funnier is the fact I imagined someone fuming over this work of art."

The dad and son duo had a chat with TODAY where they admitted that the slice of pizza baffled them indeed and they did not expect the Reddit post to go viral either. "I have ordered Hawaiian pizza that way for a long time, with pineapple on the side. I’m just not a big cooked fruit person. It took me a little bit as I was looking at it before I realized actually what they might have been thinking and that seemed funny to me," Jeff, Dillan's father, told the outlet. He also added that he opened the pizza box after taking it home.

The astonished dad quickly snapped a picture of it and forwarded it to his kids. Dillan ended up sharing the image on the internet and it unexpectedly went viral. Dillan mentioned to the outlet that this particular pizza parlor is located in the Albuquerque, New Mexico, area and they specialize in customizable slices. "What they do is they have cheese pizza ready to go and when you tell them what kind of pizza you want, they warm up the toppings and put it onto the slice of cheese pizza," Dillan told the outlet.

"My dad just took a photo and sent it to my sister and me for a laugh and he moved on with his day. It was certainly a surprise to my father who hadn’t thought much more of it after he had sent it to us," he added. Dillan and his whole family are definitely having a good laugh about how the netizens are showing so much interest in a slice of Hawaiian-style pizza Jeff purchased and ate without much thought of going viral.
