'I had a brief conversation with my late father,' Graham said, and the interviewer didn't even question it.

Sometimes artificial intelligence (AI) makes people do hilarious things. In a September 25, 2026 YouTube video, a man named Graham Dot Zip (@grahamdotzip) shared a recording of what appeared to be an interview he had with a company. As soon as the interview started, he realized the interviewer was an AI chatbot that the company trusted to test his abilities. Taking the opportunity, Graham twisted his career story to match the plot of Disney’s “The Lion King.” Each time the AI lady asked a question, he tweaked the plot and pulled out a scene to answer her. His video has since received over 740,000 views.

AI meets the Lion King

“Hi, I am Max. I am a talent partner for this role,” the AI chatbot introduced herself to Graham. She praised his work experience and asked him to tell her more about himself. Graham told Max that he spent most of his career in the family business and shared some more details about his background. The recruiter then asked him about his early career and something he learned the hard way. In response, Graham shared what he called a “pivotal mistake.” Pulling out of the scene where Mufasa’s brother Scar calls them for a meeting at the canyon, Graham narrated that his uncle, who had been pushed out of the family business, invited him to a one-on-one meeting. During the incident that involved wildebeest, his father actually died trying to save him. Hilariously enough, the recruiter said, “I am so sorry to hear that.”

The interview gets wilder

The hiring lady then asked him what Graham did after leaving his family business. Referring to the “Hakuna Matata” scene where Simba spends his life in a secluded jungle, he said he spent several years in a relatively unstructured role with two new associates. He also explained that he adopted their operational philosophy. “No responsibilities, no worries,” Graham added. To his surprise, the recruiter answered, “It sounds like it was a really valuable shift in perspective for you.”

“It wasn't an easy decision for me, but I consulted some external advisors,” Graham continued the story, “and I had a brief conversation with my late father, and ultimately, I decided the best thing for me and for the business was for me to return to it.” The recruiter didn’t even question how he spoke to his late father. When she asked for two references to confirm his life experience, Graham said that one of them died at the hands of the other. Moreover, when the AI chatbot asked if he learned something from his bitter experiences, he answered, "I had one big learning, which is to always ask for an agenda before a one-on-one, particularly when it's taking place in the canyon."

Hiring gets a tech upgrade

These days, it is getting harder to distinguish between real and AI. According to a series of 47 studies compiled by CoPilot, nearly 51% of organizations use AI for recruitment as of 2026. The figure has risen from 26% in 2024. The global AI recruiting market is about to soar to $752 million by 2026. However, nearly three-quarters (71%) of Americans oppose AI in the recruiting process, while others say AI combined with human oversight achieves 73% better recruitment results.

Viewers speculated a series of scenarios after seeing the AI recruiter’s expressions and responses. For example,@parfait2013 pointed out, “What's really funny to me is that the AI widens her eyes while she emphasizes how hard it sounds, but because he interrupts during this, she spends the next minute with her eyes just stuck wide, not matching her gestures and voice anymore.” @neoxubu joked, “My new line when someone drops a bomb: ‘That sounds like a significant event.’”
