Danielle Habel, who's known as @danielle.habel on TikTok, experienced just that when she saw her father abandon his kids and wife for his mistress. On July 29, 2026, she recalled how her dad got into an affair with his coworker and continued living a luxurious life while she and her mother had to beg for even basic facilities. Habel's video has received over 13 million views.

The good old days
Habel shared that her parents, who had been married for 30 years, were living a happy life until her dad got a new job opportunity out of state. Her mom always dreamt of living in a huge farmhouse with a wrap-around porch. Her dad had promised to provide her the same, and later in their relationship, he made her dream come true. The couple bought a 40-acre property with a beautiful house and farm animals trotting in their yard. Not long after that, however, her dad got a job opportunity, and he decided to take it.
A cruel betrayal
The woman loved her husband a lot. So, she agreed to move with him, leaving behind her farm life. Everything was going well until Habel's dad developed a secret affair with one of his junior employees. When her mom first confronted him, he refused, but later, he admitted to his infidelity. Moreover, Habel's father kicked her mom and kids out of his home. "She (his mistress) is my girlfriend. To hell with you," she recalled her father's cruel words.
Two kids and a tiny apartment
Heartbroken, Habel's mom left his house and returned to her farmhouse. She was already struggling because her husband refused to pay the mortgage on their farmhouse and child support. After a year, the couple finally got divorced, and Habel’s mom was abandoned in abrupt financial fragility. Since she couldn’t afford to live in the farmhouse, she moved into a tiny apartment with two of her kids, whereas her dad married his mistress and continued living his life.
The financial fallout
After divorce, most women experience more financial struggles than men. In fact, according to research by Legal & General, women often find their incomes cut by almost half (50%) following divorce, whereas men’s income falls by just 30%. The report also revealed that approximately 24% of women struggle financially after their separation, compared to only 16% of men. Moreover, in 51% of divorces, women involved were financially dependent on their husbands during their marriage, and post-divorce, one in five women (19%) return to work, compelled to earn for their household and kids.
As if nothing at all had happened
Meanwhile, recalling the terrifying time, Habel said, "Put your finger down if... your dad marries the woman that he cheated on your mom with, and they buy a big farm property that they have farm animals on... that were your mom's dreams and suddenly this woman's dreams." Moreover, she informed her audience that her dad and his new wife have been sharing their farm life on TikTok, as if nothing happened.
