With all the fuss that's going on around men who dislike Taylor Swift, this man's outlook is an eye-opener for every girl dad.
The internet talks a lot about men who seem to be in disdain over Taylor Swift's success and the infamous 2009 VMAs moment where Kanye West interrupted Swift during her speech after winning an award is one such example. Many of those men might be dads to girls who love Taylor Swift. One cannot be sure if she's a target of such male contempt due to the unapologetic nature of her music, her remarkable climb to the top in the music industry and the way she is vocal about misogyny. However, Robert People—who goes by @peoplescourt79 on TikTok—is giving a piece of his mind to girl dads who proudly disapprove of Swift and it makes sense.
People, an experienced author, screenwriter and editor based in Baltimore, Maryland is a loving husband and father of two kids. In this video, he addressed those fully-grown men who were expressing their dislike for Taylor Swift simply for existing and "supporting her boyfriend in the NFL." He warned such men saying, "Keep in mind. Taylor Swift is not going to see any of that. But you know who will? Your daughters." He then explained why such remorseless expressions of contempt can directly impact the future generation of women. He said, "With all this juvenile hate you're showing Taylor Swift for simply being there, you're encouraging your daughters to shrink themselves, reduce who they are."
The dad of two was giving such disdainful men a glimpse of how a demeaning successful woman like that could change their daughters' perspective of life. He explained how the daughters would limit their confidence and capability because "if they do anything more than that or they just decide to be themselves, they're going to get a whole lot of hate from not only the world but from people just like you, their own parents." People added, "We need to do better straight up," and it's what every girl dad who thinks it's okay to openly express their resentment over Swift, or any other successful woman for that matter, should think about. This video went viral with over 1.4 million views so far. Nearly 7000 comments swarmed in and people were full of gratitude for the man voicing out this concern.
"Thank you for this. We are made to feel silly constantly and it’s paramount to have people around who validate and encourage!" commented @bagelsrmyeverything. "You made this grown woman cry, sir! Thank you for this, the world needs more humans like you in it," wrote @punkhippiemamaj. Some pointed out how they were proud of the men in their families who loved Taylor Swift and supported their fans. "My husband loves that my 5-year-old son is like, 'Look it’s Taylor Swift. She sings my favorite songs!' while he’s watching the game. Gives them a way to connect and enjoy the game together," commented @hollberry. "My dad has taken a liking to her because we love her. He gets so excited to tell us what songs he’s listening to and what things he’s learned about her when we see him," wrote @slizardhands.
