Farmer confronts owl in hilarious ‘disciplinary meeting’ after catching it attacking his chickens

Owls can definitely be intimidating birds, but when a farmer caught one eating his chickens, he was not letting it fly off without a serious discussion. Sharing the hilarious video on November 2, @shirttailcreekfarm's funny interaction with an owl has left online users in splits. The farmer's video has garnered more than 6.2 million views on Instagram so far, with more to come as even the man's silent dialogues were worthy of a full-blown comic thriller. 

A farmer who goes by the Instagram handle @shirttailcreekfarm caught a Great Horned Owl on his farm after finding it eating his chickens. The video features the owl gripping onto the farmer's fingers with its talons while the latter tries to grab onto its legs. "This fellow here was eating my chickens. I'm not going to hurt him. I just need to grab him to get him out of this chicken house," the farmer says as he is seen struggling to get his finger out of the owl's grip. Fortunately, he manages to free his finger. The farmer holds the owl by its feet as though posing for a picture when the owl hilariously turns its face toward him, startling the farmer. "I wish we could be friends. You're f****** cool. I don't want you eating my birds, however, sir," he quips.

While the farmer gives the owl a daring talk to not mess with his chickens, he is equally intimidated by the bird's sharp beak after fiercely fighting to get his finger out of the owl's talons. "Now what you don't want is that beak getting on you. If those talons are that strong, I can only imagine what the beak is like," he says. The farmer goes on to "school" the owl, saying, "This isn't allowed, sir. This is not permissible," before letting the bird free, saying, "Fly, Mordecai." According to a 2015 study titled Predator Management for Small and Backyard Poultry Flocks, larger species of owls, such as the Great Horned Owl, are among the nighttime predators capable of killing adult chickens by carrying them off or eating them in place. Great Horned Owls live in many types of habitats, from coastlines to grasslands to mixes of woods and open fields.

Soon after the post went viral, many online users shared their hilarious reactions. @pkrzychi wrote, "That owl looked like he was as surprised as you were to be in that situation." @johannaxos commented, "That owl is going to go back to his buddies and be like 'Bros, you're not going to believe this. There I was, enjoying some nuggies, when this giant picked me up and told me I couldn't have any more nuggies. But he was cool about it and tossed me up in the air and let me go.'" @kellensnax shared, "That head turn was comedically perfect."
