'Men being allowed to be boys is such a beautiful thing.'
Immigrants and other workers often have a hard time looking for jobs and giving it their all to earn their wages. Amid their days of sweat, a young man named Jesús Morales (@juixxe) is out to make a difference. In a video shared on Instagram, Morales stepped out to ask workers if they were ready for an entire day’s work. In need of wages, the workers gladly agreed, rushing towards him. However, the man noted that they would not be working that day. Instead, he surprised the confused workers with a plan they never could have dreamed of.
Morales casually drove by the streets and saw a group of men standing afar. He rolled down his window and asked, “Amigos, are you looking for work? I need 8 workers.” As soon as they heard him, they rushed to his vehicle. Several men of different ages approached the vehicle to inquire more about the work, enthusiastic and ever ready to take on the job, no matter what it was. Morales cautioned that the men would need to know “how to swim” for this task. That fact didn’t change the number of hands raised in determined energy to find a job.
“We picked up 8 workers and took them to work,” he said. In a YouTube video, Morales shared how the rest of the day went. After he got the 8 people, Morales quickly took them shopping to get essentials like towels and other items, as they were going to be in the water. The workers were still unsure of what to expect. Soon, they found themselves at Wildrivers, in t-shirts and caps sponsored by Bimbo, ready, not to work but to be appreciated for the hard work they do. These men — young and old — hopped onto the vehicle with keen interest, ready to work, no matter the workload. Their determination deserved some reward, and that’s exactly what Morales gave them.
They arrived at the water park and the next thing we knew, they were all having the time of their lives, swimming, playing and getting drenched. As they went down the water slides, each of them had different reactions, all different lengths of smiles and volumes of screams, bringing out their inner child. Finally, the day was over, and the men were exhausted from being out all day, not working rigorously but getting a well-deserved break. As promised, Morales paid them the wages, and their smiles revealed their gratitude and refreshment.
Natalia Molina, a distinguished professor of American studies and ethnicity at the University of Southern California, explained that giving these immigrant workers a paid day off speaks volumes, per CNN. “He puts a spotlight on them and treats them with respect, and you’re reminded of something that we shouldn’t need to be reminded of — that these are human beings who live whole lives,” she explained. Like Molina, other people are praising the man for being a blessing in disguise. @livingwithlilac wrote, “They are so willing to work. They deserve a break.” @windsyp said, “Men being allowed to be boys is such a beautiful thing.” @jamtrex77 remarked, “Bet none of them experienced this before, I love they are being big kids for the day.”
