Man gives stranger a ‘Greatest Moustache Award’ citation and gets a wholesome exchange in return

Compliments lift our spirits, no matter how small or big. A regular day can become special, a bad day can become better and an already good day can be one of the best ever. That’s the power of compliments, especially when they come from strangers. A TikTok video posted by Cole (@colejernstedt) shows him bumping into a random stranger in Walmart and making his day by giving him an award for ‘The Greatest Moustache.’ The video begins with Cole coming across Bill in Walmart where he walks up to him and says, “Just wanted to give you this before you leave, it’s a citation for the city and I just wanted you to know that you’ve got the greatest mustache.”

Bill’s wife breaks into a wide smile and Bill turns to hug Cole and says, “I can’t tell you how honored I am. I noticed you have a mustache of your own,” to which Cole is quick to respond, “That’s why we have that telepathy.” Shaking Cole’s hand, Bill responds, “You want to know something; I respect you for that.” Cole immediately reciprocates the respect and says, “I respected you the first moment I saw you. Can we get a mustache picture?” The two get into the frame for an adorable picture together where both their mustaches are clearly visible and so were born the “Mustache Bros.”

In another TikTok video, Cole does a “Friend in Review” of Bill and introduces the man he met with the greatest mustache. He narrates, "Bill, guys, right? El Macho himself. Let’s take a deeper dive into the Walmart trip with Bill.” The video then moves to Cole’s meeting with Bill at Walmart. Cole narrates further on the picture of the two of them together, “This is a veteran stache, right? This mustache has seen probably 2000 years' worth of things that it probably shouldn’t have seen. There’s no comparison of these two staches. He matched our energy, which is what made the situation and the conversation so memorable. Are you kidding me? Bill is incomparable. Bill is the goat. New friend rating 10 out of 10.” He took his adoration for Bill’s mustache a step further and explained that it was “mustache telepathy” that led him to Bill in Walmart. And for those “who don’t have one”, they need to “get with the program right now.”

The adorableness of the two staches took the internet by storm and the video was widely shared on Reddit, where users couldn’t keep themselves from commenting. u/MurderSheCroaked commented, “The world needs more of this wholesome goofy nonsense. Everyone wins.” Talking about the world of mustaches, u/BriskHeartedParadox said, “Us bearded folk have a similar vibe but we always respect the mustaches first. It’s an unspoken rule.” It looks like those with bare upper lips are missing out on some real friendships. But then again, surely there’s a club for those with no staches, where do we sign up?
