The video has the boyfriend prioritizing their pet cat and his love for his pet met with applause in the comments section. The video features Shaw returning from a trip with her boyfriend. She asks him on their way, "How do you feel about getting back?" He immediately answered, "F****** mint. I can't wait to see my cat." The best thing about him coming back home was his beloved cat. He did not care about the jet lag or any other thing, just his pet. The girlfriend was a bit taken aback but she also knew his love for his pet so, she seemed completely fine with his choice. She funnily captioned the video, "The cat always takes priority."

The man's preference showed his emotional stability, as per a November 2020 study in the National Library of Medicine. The study concludes that people who find an emotional connection with their pets encounter love, happiness and peace.

Another instance of a boyfriend choosing his cat over his partner happened in 2022, albeit this one took a serious turn. The boyfriend posted on Reddit how his girlfriend asked him to choose between her and the cat. The man broke up with her immediately. "I love her [his cat Connie] and I also promised her on the day I adopted her from the shelter that I will always take care of her. I am keeping that promise," the user wrote at the time.

Pet abandonment is a huge issue across the globe. Several people take on pets in their household, thinking it would be an enjoyable experience.
