Having a partner with a disability is only as much of a challenge as you make it be. It can be as happy and fulfilling as any other relationship.
Disabilities can often hinder the day-to-day life of people; not just their own but also the lives of those around them. The insecurities of your disability can often seep through crevices in your relationship. However, this is not the case with Paul and Matthew. They have been a couple for a significant amount of time and are quite famous on social media for the best reason ever - Matthew pranking Paul constantly. Recently, a video they posted through their account, Matthew & Paul (@matthewandpaul), on Instagram garnered a lot of love and attention.
In the video, Matthew asks Paul if the latter has ever felt like he's being treated differently due to his blindness in their marriage. To this question, Paul replies quite savagely and says, "Matthew. You don't treat me differently enough!" Then, he bursts out laughing. When asked if he wished to be treated like a princess "differently," he promptly says yes with a laugh. Paul goes on to explain why he said that Matthew doesn't treat him differently enough with an example and it is as wholesome as it is amusing.
Talking about how Matthew doesn't even treat him differently regarding household chores or DIY projects, Paul says, "Just yesterday, you made me put that whole dresser together!!" When Matthew compliments him by saying what an amazing job he did, he chuckles before exclaiming, "You made me use power tools!"
When Paul remarks that nobody in his life had ever made him use power tools before, Matthew slyly says, "And you loved it." After a moment of silence and a loud laugh, Paul admits, "I mean, it was kind of fun!" The best part about their relationship is the fact that neither of them treats Paul's disability as something that makes him less capable. In fact, they try to have as much fun with it as they can.
Their Instagram feed is filled with hilarious videos of the couple and most of them have Matthew pranking Paul. Right from pretending to be a lamp to changing the layout of their house so Paul thinks he broke into someone else's home, Matthew has done it all. In fact, he even had a fun caption for this video. It read, "Raise your hand if you wanna see Paul use power tools," and we are all for it!
The comment section was as wholesome as it gets. @enby.nd.k said, "I love this. Mathew knows Paul is a capable person and holds him to it. Feels good." @the_kaylab joked, "You do treat him differently than I do my spouse you are way harder on him. Like my marriage wouldn't survive one week of your pranks, my man and I aren't emotionally strong enough to have the other one pretend to be a bench." @lonluca suggested, "I would prefer to see Paul giving Matthew a haircut, bet that would get a lot of views." And honestly? We'd love to see that too!
