Man finds $6 and wholesome note slipped under the door from person who stole crackers from his shop

Our conscience always warns us before we engage in questionable actions. It is not the mistake that dictates our morals and conscience but how we rectify our wrong actions. A person tried to correct a mistake and displayed a great sense of morality. However, they did it in the most hilarious and wholesome way possible. Reddit member mikehimself29 arrived at work, as usual, only to discover a small handwritten message tucked beneath his office door. 

The person, who works at a sports venue, posted the wholesome note on Reddit and it instantly caught everyone's attention. Along with a note, he also found $6, and what was written on the paper displayed the dilemma the writer faced. The note reads, " Dear *name omitted*, on Tuesday night I was watching practice. I saw someone stick their hand up the vending machine and steal a pop tart. I was dared to try it and I made a terrible decision."

They continued, "I reached up and grabbed crackers, and ate them. I take full responsibility for my decision. I promise I will never do it again. I will also set a better example. I not sure how much the crackers cost. I want to make sure it was enough. I also want to pay for the pop-tarts someone took. I am very sorry." The author of the message, who had not signed their name, appears to be a youngster or early adolescent, however, some Reddit users speculated that it may also have been a 30- to 40-year-old male.

The post has subsequently received 81.8k upvotes and hundreds of comments, with some even sharing anecdotes on how they fixed their own mistakes. A user wrote, "When I was young, my friend and I stole bowling shoes from a bowling alley. We thought it would be cool to keep them and have our own bowling shoes. As soon as my parents found out, they drove me all the way back to the alley (which was very far across town) and made me walk in and say I took them and return them."

They added, "That still sticks with me today, and fixing your wrongs is how I intend to help my son now learn from his mistakes too." 

Another user shared, "It's amazing how formative these moments are. When I was a kid, I had a similar moment and never stole anything again. Same thing happened to my son. We both look back on that moments with a little embarrassment but happy that they went as they did." 

"I stole a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh cards from a Walmart when I was like 8 and to this day, two decades later, I still lay awake at night thinking about it," yet another Reddit user shared.

"I remember when I was a kid and I was with someone who pushed me to pocket some candy. I remember when I got home that I felt guilty about even eating it. I did eat it, but more out of "Oh well, it's not doing me any good to not eat it," than out of actual enjoyment. And it's something that has influenced my actions since then," wrote another.

Reddit users also said that whoever wrote that note is "destined to be a great person" and is honest and courageous to be able to realize their mistake and do something to rectify it.
