It's very important for people to be considerate towards dogs and recognize their vulnerability and dependence on human care. These innocent animals should ideally always be treated with kindness and not be caused any distress. u/mydogismygod0 had a shocking story to share about how he had to cancel his wedding after his fiancée endangered his dog's life. The post has gone viral with over 29.7k upvotes and 7.8k comments on Reddit.

The man shares how he had been in a relationship with his fiancée for over four years and had been engaged for six months at the time of the incident. He had a 7-year-old "lab mix" who he describes as the "greatest dog in existence." On a Saturday, his fiancée decided to have a bachelorette party at their home. The man decided to stay with his parents but decided to let his fiancée keep the dog with her, as she liked having him around. He did insist that the dog be kept in their bedroom once the party got going.

The next morning, the man received a frantic call from his fiancée at 5 a.m., telling him something was wrong with the dog. He wrote, "She was drunk, so I told her to get a taxi and go to the emergency vet clinic." Upon arriving there, he saw that his fiancée was in tears and she couldn't even speak. One of her friends informed him that his dog was still alive but was not doing too well.

He initially felt quite sorry for his fiancée while he waited for the doctor to arrive. But then, the doctor came out and informed the man that the dog had consumed large amounts of alcohol along with chocolate edibles. He shared: "The girls apparently thought it would be cool to leave everything out on short coffee tables, leave the dog to wander around instead of putting him in our bedroom and then get wasted and not notice he was going to town with the booze and edibles."

The man was naturally very upset upon hearing this revelation and told his fiancée to get out of his house and his life once they got home. He recounted, "I told her to tell her guests that the wedding is off and I'll tell mine. She was shocked, but she took her things and left." Soon enough, he received many messages from her family saying that he was overreacting. The conversations began by defending his fiancée but soon turned into insulting him.

The individual looked to his own family for support, but they also thought he was overreacting as the dog did not die. His sister and best man also did not offer him any support. He revealed that although their relationship always had its "ups and downs," he was mostly disgusted with his fiancée after the incident with his dog and could not fathom living with her the rest of his life. He also shared that she was generally negligent and that he mostly stood by his decision to call off the marriage.

People on the platform agreed with the individual in the comments section. u/UncleOgre said, "That level of carelessness could lead to death. What would people say if she had done the same thing with a kid around? It's pretty obvious how you feel, getting out now seems like a better option than having this fester until the divorce." u/Blackstar1401 said, "If she did that to a dog, what would she do to future children (if you were planning on having any). People can break up for any reason at any time. I hope your dog makes a full recovery."
